@Rapsheet The 3-year extension for #Ravens QB Joe Flacco is worth more than $66M, source said. Signing bonus is $40M, plus $4M more fully guaranteed

Winning a SB makes you bank no matter what you were before or after

Damn it I had the impression his deal was kind of recent but it has been what, 3 or 4 years since they won the SB and gave him that contract.

I see no alternatives for the Ravens, this QB class is awful and despite their putrid season they are always in the playoff conversation which means draft out of the top 15 almost every year. Flacco is a pocket passer, those are becoming rare assets.

Flacco was entering the year with something like a $28 million dollar cap hit, so they had to do something.

Third highest cap number for 2016, only behind Brees' $30 million and Suh's $29 million

A team could do a lot worse than Joe Flacco as their QB. Give him some WR's with jets and leaping ability and they should start winning some games again.

Ozzie's doubling down on the stupid with this horrible extension of a horrible contract.

@FO_ScottKacsmar
Joe Flacco since SB win: 21-21, 60 TD, 46 INT. Stats were better pre-SB win.

Mayo must be delaying his retirement, hoping the Patriots will pay him his 4 million dollar bonus
as a going away present.

Mayo has already pulled in ~$45m in career earnings. It's not like hes living under the Lenny Zakim bridge eating out of dumpsters because he blew through his bank.

IIRC the question is the return of signing bonus money that he owes back as he will voluntarily chose not to fulfill the length of his contract. The question is will the Pats ask for it back as it's a decent chunk of change ($1.5m I think).

To I think your point, the may let that go as it doesn't have any cap ramifications.

They can ask for the prorated portion of it but I rather doubt they will.
