I don't think that a telling sign of what team signs a special teams playing safety is that their LB coach made a positive comment at his pro day.
There are 32 special teams coaches that have studied how he actually has played for a number of seasons in the NFL that would be more pertinent.

I would have liked to have gotten Sanu, they better have had some other reason for cutting lafell because his contract would have been a huge bargain.

They cut Lafell because they didn't want him any more.

guy had 900+ yards in 2014 and his cap hit was only going to be around $3 million, i have to imagine it was more than that or you would at least bring him into training camp.

Then offer him a deal that will screw with their cap. Obviously, they can't offer enough to give up too much damage, but anything is better than nothing.
