Steve Balestrieri
The Patriots won’t be using the franchise tag on left guard Joe Thuney, which means he’ll hit free agency and by all accounts won’t be ba

What in the world makes you (and anyone else) believe that Onwenu is capable of playing starting-caliber Left Guard here? And contrary to the opinion of some, there is a difference in responsibilities, technique etc. between Left Guard and Right Guard...Hell there was talk after the draft that continued well into TC about converting Big Mike into a DT, and now some people (perhaps including Bill, sadly) want to move him to the more athletically-demanding Left side?
Best-case scenario would be moving Brown back to LT and Wynn to LG...if Brown's even capable of still providing starting-caliber LT play, which is far from certain...Shoulda just re-signed Thuney, dumped Cannon (which still might happen) and re-negotiated Mason's contract...

I like Wynn to stay at LT as he has better feet than Brown. Brown stays at RT with Cannon as the back up. Owenu played RG in College, played G at times last season so I think he'll be okay.

Wynn is not moving to Guard, he's either going to RT or staying at LT...from what I've been reading, most people think he'll be staying at LT and Brown moving to RT.

Wynn at RT would be...how shall I put this...Less than ideal...That's how his injuries here started during the 2018 preseason...

Exactly. We know Trent Brown was a championship caliber left tackle before on the Patriots, he's a better pass blocker than run blocker, put Trent Brown at LT. Onwenu was an elite tackle and started 12 games at RT, you don't mess with that keep Onwenu at right tackle. Wynn while skilled is extremely injury prone, 16 of 48 games played is abysmal and he has way too many injuries (toe, foot, ankle, achilles, knee) so maybe his 6'2 frame can hold up better as a LG which he played at Georgia. Then say bye to Cannon.
