Belichick's contract has already been "renewed", they just choose not to tell us exactly when it happened and for just how long it was extended. Bob Kraft is on record as recently as the last month in saying that any effort to portray 2006 as the final year of BB's contractual obligation to this team would be a mis-statement of the facts.

I hope you are right, but that's an odd way to term it: " ... a misstatement of the facts." Is that specifically what he said? I don't see what the secrecy is all about. Why can't they just announce how long he's signed for?

Belichick we know is under contract for next season with the Pat's. My guess is the rumors are about Belichick's contract possibly not being renewed after next season.
