It was a terrible call, i’ll never deny that. But the saints put themselves in a position to where they NEEDED a call by the refs to ice the game, and when they didnt get said call, they proceeded to implode and lose the gameAgain, the moment you get to "They still", as a method of dismissal, about a play that was a game decider in a game's waning moments, you're just looking for a way to lessen the import of the call, which is senseless. If the refs don't blow the call, there's an old time extra point level field goal that almost certainly ends the game in the Saints favor. There's nothing else. There's no "woulda, coulda, shoulda". It's the end of the story.
We all make the dismissal mistake on occasion, but it's bad form on our part when we do it.
Thats what happens when you take the game out of your own hands and put it in the refs instead to decide your fate.
No one remembers the questionable play calling right before the non-PI either where payton called a pass play instead of a run that resulted in an incompletion/stopped clock which gave the rams more time and an extra TO to drive for a tying FG in regulation
