I wonder if the labrum he tore is on the same shoulder he damaged near the end of his RS Senior season.
You are just straight-up making **** up again, Captain Volin. Here is an unbiased, well-researched review of his injuries during college:
New England selected Jones in the third round of last week’s draft.
www.patspulpit.com
Here is what they wrote about his final season at Houston.
2021 (Houston): Jones missed two practices in September because of a hamstring injury. He did not miss any in-game action due to the issue, though.
Jones had to be helped off the field against South Florida with what was later announced to be a leg injury. He was not kept on the sidelines for long, however, and returned to the action just a few minutes later.
Houston’s bowl game versus Auburn did not see Jones take the field. He decided to skip his final college game with an eye on his pre-draft preparation. Jones underwent surgery on both his shoulders after the season to address an issue that has plagued him going all the way back to 2018.”
Conspicuous in its absence is any mention of an acute injury to his shoulder during his final year in college
, because you seemingly just made that up. His chronic shoulder issues were minor enough that they caused him to miss a total of ZERO games during his college career. He missed two games while playing for Troy because of a collarbone injury.
Because of that injury he was mostly pegged as an end-of-4th-round guy instead of the late-2nd/early-3rd-round prospect he would've been had he entered the draft process with a clean bill of health.
From where are you pulling this because this part of your post smells like feces? Jones was downgraded as a draft prospect because of his shoulders
by whom?? You? Others here? A couple of obscure online draft “experts”? Show us some examples of respected draft experts who ranked him as a late 4th round prospects because in his shoulder(s).
I read a lot about Jones leading up to the draft, because I thought that he would be a great fit for the Pats in terms of both cornerback need and versatility. I remember him being a consensus third round pick throughout the pre-draft process, and that concerns about his
size prevented him from being a round 1/2 prospect. I have no recollection reading that his shoulders were major concern and had caused teams to downgrade him.
@BaconGrundleCandy, is your recollection different?
I assume that you aren’t referring to mock drafts, because his consensus ranking based upon a call, Kim, Elena dating from a large number of draftnicks was 83, which was impressively spot-on (drafted at 85).
Here is Lance Zierlein’s assessment (3rd/4th rd) about Jones, with no mention of his shoulders.
He was #70 on Brugler’s last big board, with no mention of his shoulders in his final writeup about him. Jones went from Brugler’s 10th ranked quarterback in early December 2021, to his ninth ranked CB in his final rankings, after the news of his shoulder surgeries was made public.
In reality, the only relevant concerns would have been those emanating from NFL teams, whose team orthopedists performed a pre-draft physical exam on Jones and who had access to his surgical operative notes and MRI reports.
@captain stone, kindly give us some
specific examples of legit insiders who reported that
NFL teams were concerned about his shoulders and downgraded to the late 4th because of those concerns, or else your post represents another example of your biased, anti-Bill ********. You seem to be laying the groundwork for future critical posts about the pick, through fabrication of pre-draft reports.
