So maybe you might understand now - Patriot fans don't have a problem with Brady. We just choose not to root for him while he's playing for another team.

This is the part I don't understand. Last year, it was "Brady had to prove that he could win outside the NE system", so there was a lot of cheering for the Bucs going on from Patriots fans just to shut up the Max Kellermans, Shannon Sharpes, and Nick Wrights of the world. After winning in Tampa last year, however, this crowd is STILL cheering for the Bucs. What more does Brady have left to prove that it would warrant rooting for the Bucs to win another championship? Would an eighth ring really mean anything for him? Did you see Bulls fans rooting for MJ when he went to Washington? How about Magic fans when Shaq went to Los Angeles or Caveliers fans when Lebron went to Miami? It's nothing but Brady worship.

I'd say Brady has innovated or changed the game of football if that's what you mean? He's a completely different kind of QB than the type of guy that would be considered a star in the past at that position and redefined greatness or potential for greatness at his position. That's why he can go to a new team and win right away and also win with not always the best talent around him. Someone with a profile like Mac wouldn't have been touched with a 10 foot pole in the draft if Brady didn't come before him into the league.
Pocket QBs have been around forever and will continue to be. Tom is just the best to have ever done it.
And then there's the TB12 stuff and bringing a very different perspective to the sports world which athletes have bought into on training, nutrition and how long athletes can play at an elite level. It's working.
Working for whom besides Tom? What other athletes are pounding the table crediting their careers to the TB12 Method?
Brady is doing things that should be unthinkable for athletes at his age.
Agree but there have been players who have played in the NFL into their 40s. He's just performed at an absurd level at his age. Tom is a transcendent athlete. No debate about that.
No he doesn't have the branding power that Jordan has but who does? Tiger Woods? Beckham? That's about it I think.
I'm not talking about branding and commercialization but importance as it pertains to the impact on the sport, the industry and society.

I saw it slightly differently that that... I never thought it was about Brady having to prove that "he could win outside the NE system". He has nothing to prove, to anyone. It was all about whos more important, Brady > Belichick, ad nauseum.

There was a lot of cheering for the Bucs in the Super Bowl though... because Kermit... eff that guy.

Speaking for myself, I was never just cheering for Brady to win outside of NE/Bill. I have been a fan of his entire career. I am similar in age to him (47) and also have 3 kids who are right around the same ages of his kids. His career has been inspirational to me. So my rooting interest is solely based on him and his career. It would not have mattered to me what team he went to, I was always going to root for him.

In terms of this season, every time he takes the field, history is being made. He has a chance to become the all-time completions leader this Sunday with 18 completions and is 2 TDs away from 700 total TDs for his career. Those accomplishments, along with all his others make his career unlike any other in team sports history. So yeah, I am rooting for his career to keep going as I really see it as an extension of his time as a Patriot. The bulk of all his accomplishments were achieved here so any success he has will always be tied to the Pats and I get a lot of joy from that.

I don't understand why being a super fan of the guy is such an issue here to some, especially you. The guy played for us for 20 years and helped us win 6 chips. I think it is more odd actually to root against the guy and not care at all how he is doing.

Is the show any good or worth it? I'm not an ESPN+ member but I'll sign up if the show is worth it.

If you like America's Game, yes. It's an R-rated version of that with fresh interviews.

It's good. Each episode represents a super bowl year (win or loss). The first nine are probably worth watching while the Bucs episode (the last one) not. As a warning, the producer is Gotham Chopra, who is a friend of Brady, so if you are expecting to get a non-biased viewpoint then you'll be disappointed.

It's a bit cheesy at times, but I will continue to watch each episode. If I didn't already have Hulu I probably would wait until it was available for free somewhere online.

The last one sucked. Too much pain watching that 2007 season unfold.

yeah i hope brady continues to win in Tampa and break all the records and be elite

and then I hope we meet him in the Superbowl this year, and crush the bucs and their leader

then for the next couple of years it can be the pats and bucs the only real teams vying for a championship

Move the ****ing thread somebody ************

It's a Brady wankfest but honestly, I'm enjoying the commentary offered by each episode's special guests and truthfully, I really don't mind listening to celebrated footballers talk football even if it is Strahan. Also, it's been a nice trip down memory lane.

I loved Brady and admired everything he did here.
I have moved on. I only have so much time in a day and refuse to watch a Tampa Bay player TV series

What bs is that. Brady could retire at the end of this year, and would have spent 20 years with pats and 2 years with TB, and in your eyes a documentary about him is a "Tampa Bay player TV series". Like saying any documentary on Montana is just a "Kansas City Chief player TV series".

CLE had Wackjob and Love. It's not like he did it all by himself. Larry had McHale and Chief. Magic had Worthy and Kareem.

If whatshisface doesn't get suspended not sure CLE wins.

LeBron is def top 10 but I'll take LB in his prime.
I'd also take Terrel Davis in his prime over anyone but Jim Brown, but hard to argue he's a top 5 RB. Usually in these lists people are talking about who had the best career, and not just ability alone.

Just finished watching episode 4...it felt like watching a funeral.

With all these ringing endorsements, I think I'll pass......

I can only think you’re being willfully obtuse. Brady played at an elite level for a longer period of time than those two. He and the Pats won considerably more championships and had far more Finals and Final 4 appearances than those two. He owns literally every record his position can achieve. And before him the Patriots hadn’t won a single title, which is certainly not the case with those two. Also football is a far more popular sport so yes the cultural impact is greater.
And as great as Bird was, he played for a franchise that had dominated the NBA for the 20 years previous.

If Mac Jones wins 3 Super Bowls in the next 6 years, 2 league MVPs, sets league records for highest QB rating, and then retires due to injury in 2033 after winning no more than 3 SBs, he would be like Larry Bird.
