Looking at the schedule and ASSUMING an 8 week recovery for Mac....we could have him back for the Jets game in week 11. @GB, DET, @CLE, CHI, @NYJ, IND, and a BYE week. If we can go 4-2 with Hoyer...we will be 5-4 at that point going into the home Jets game and still very much in play for a playoff berth.

If we go 4-2 with Hoyer and he's looking pretty good in those games, would we go back to Mac that quickly.

If that happened a poster on here would have his name changed to Hoyer5 and endlessly proclaim him to be the GOAT

Yep, Mac is still the man.

One sliver lining to starting Hoyer is that our offense will be run heavy....which is how we should have been playing it all along. Pound the ball and play action that ****! Also, I think Hoyer's leash will be short...if he is gonna turn over the ball....then F it...bring in Zappe who will also turn over the ball, but at least while trying to make big plays.

Yeah it’s definitely smart to rush back the seriously injured QB who has thrown 2 TDs and 5 INTs and doesn’t have an offensive coordinator. That’s real smart for setting up long term success.
Let's pretend we're talking about TB here, you would want him to get back as quickly as possible, wouldn't you? I think everyone would agree that we are better with Mac as our qb than with Hoyer in there. If this surgery can speed the recovery time and there are no risks involved, why wouldn't us as fans, want our starting qb to get back as soon as possible?

On the bright side after Green Bay next week you can say we are playing the soft part of our Schedule no juggernauts until The Bills.
lol agree. There are definitely some winnable games in the next month and a half. After GB we have:

-Lions
-Browns
-Bears
-Jets
-Colts
-Jets
-Vikings
-Bills
-Cardinals

A lot of winnable games in that schedule. No reason we can't get to at least 7 wins from this group.

Hopefully Mac makes a full recovery and can come back this year.
Some of his decisions this year have been baffling (not sure what's up there), but he's still our best shot IMO, and the more reps the better.
I'd be shocked if Hoyer isn't the man moving forward, I don't want to see Scam coming through that door!

I don't think there are any easy wins this season. Even the Jags and Detroit are looking better and more explosive. It's hard to win in the NFL.

4-2 with Hoyer? Does anyone remember the last game Hoyer started for us?

Detroit isn't the walk over they usually are. They've been losing close games but have been playing better.
Cleveland are 2-1 and have a lot of talent.
The Bears are 2-1
JETE suck but they aren't gonna be scared of us
The Colts just beat the Chiefs.

I think we can compete in these games and hopefully win some, but to project 4-2 with Hoyer as our QB is kinda wishful thinking.

Have you seen Brian Hoyer play?

Lol at the CLE & NYJ ticket prices.

You are just assuming he tore his ligaments, which we don't know yet. Severe could mean anything.
Only the mildest of ankle sprains avoid torn ankle ligaments. I sprained my ankle years ago, wasn’t “severe”, and tore ligaments in my ankle. Either way, it’s different from torn ligaments in the knee, which always need surgery.

Not exactly wishful thinking.

1.) The Packers' offense isn't in sync yet...if we can limit Dillon/Jones. We can keep it low scoring.
2.) Detroit is at home. It won't be an easy out...but I think we will be competitive.
3.) @ Cleveland...it is Brisset at QB. Just lock down Amari Cooper...and run stuff Chubb/Hunt all day. Keep it low scoring like the Steelers did on TNF.
4.) Bears? ****, their offense is WORSE than ours...no joke. I know because I own Fields in my main FFL and been watching him to see if I should cut bait.
5.) @Jets, tougher than usual...I like Garrett Wilson...but this is a division game d%#*!@t!
6.) Indy at home...I like it. Just shut down Pittman...and put 8 in the box for Taylor all day.

4-2 isn't out of the realm of possibility if we play a run first based offense with solid complementary defense/special teams.

Just heard on the radio that Brian Hoyer is 0-11 in his last 11 starts. Let's be realistic on our projections.

Have you seen Brian Hoyer play?
My last memory of Hoyer was two years ago against KC....we should have won that game but Hoyer made some great plays, but then backed it up by having the clock run out at halftime leaving points on the board.

Not the kind of memory you want of your backup qb

I think that if Mac is gone for 6+ games, we will surely see Zappe at some point. I can’t imagine Belichick will allow a 4 or 5 game losing streak without changing QBs.

Brian Hoyer is 0-11 in his last 11 starts.
