Jimmy G missed 9 weeks with a similar injury. Simple math would indicate that Mac Jones will miss half the time, since he is twice the man that Jimmy is.

The GOAT will be back in 4 weeks.

Mac's lucky if that's the case four to six weeks is my guess.
Dr. Chao says 4 weeks because he's a QB. It would be way longer for skill players. Assuming no surgery req'd.

If “pretty severe” can be translated as Grade 3 which it always is that’s his entire season gone. It’s not worth it to bring him back for what week 16?

High ankle sprains graded as severe often do.

That's only if there is serious ligament damage...

Most high ankle sprains do not require surgery. However, in severe cases or if a ligament has been completely torn, the standard surgical procedure is to insert a screw between the tibia and fibula to hold the two bones together. This relieves pressure on the ligaments and allows them to scar in place and heal.

@MAC10 has a strange sense of humor I guess.

Yikes. buckle-up ladies and gents, this could be a long season.... Love Hoyer for what he is, but tough to see a playoff run with Hoyer as QB1 for next 5-6 games while sitting at 1-2 record.

Hope I'm wrong and Mac is back on field in less time but having gone through a similar injury very recently, the hard part is that you really just need to stay off of it completely for swelling to stop. Even walking around the office/wearing shoes it feels like you re-injure them daily. On top of that, it halts all momentum in terms of learning the new offensive "system" for Mac as he wont be getting reps in practice.

What do you think makes a severe high ankle sprain severe?

You are just assuming he tore his ligaments, which we don't know yet. Severe could mean anything.

I broke my fibula in playing soccer in college and still have the plate and screws to prove it. I experienced the shock of feeling my ankle collapse and hearing the bone break but after the initial jolt of pain, the adrenaline kicked in and the pain was only mild. The ankle almost felt numb….so once again you are talking out of your ass.
You going to watch the World Cup?

He could easily be off on this.

If it's tendons and ligament tears, it will be longer.

On the bright side after Green Bay next week you can say we are playing the soft part of our Schedule no juggernauts until The Bills.

Here’s the thing about Bad Teams like the Pats. There are no soft spots in the schedule.
Same is true when having a "good" team. Every W needs to be earned.
