I didn't say people thought Brady was cooked. Brady had a long decline to go to being cooked. But the general concession around the league was he wasn't the elite guy anymore. I will give you Gronk. Gronk only wanted to play with Brady. But AB was only given a shot on Tampa because of Brady. AB had no other option because he was toxic.

I am not advocating picking up the 5th year option. I am saying if they are going to give him another shot next season, they have to pick up fifth year option. But I didn't rule out that the Patriots move on from him after this season. I said I am less concerned who is the QB. Meaning I don't care as much if it Mac Jones or a veteran or a rookie at this point. My overall point is if they don't change the offense, it doesn't matter who they get unless the QB is elite.

maybe we dump mac and pick up some journeyman or a rookie QB. but as long as you give them a crap OL and "stink stank stunk" at receiver the results will be similar and fans whining about mac will either act confused or find a new sacrificial lamb to deflect off of Bill.

I checked Gardner minshew stats and it's eerily close to Mac with better rushing ability and more declutch wins.

I have been a Mac supporter , but this really rings a bell. When you can get Gardner minshew for 5 million a year, why spend 30 or 40 million on middling QB who needs playmakers. Better to invest that additional money in 2 -3 stud offensive weapons.

I am 100% sure after seeing Daniel Jones , Mac will not get his 5th year option picked up. I expect QB salaries to depress unless you take your team deeper to playoffs on consistent basis. There is going to be top 10 and all others are going to be second class QB citizens.tgwy might be lucky to get more than 20 million a year .

I see more minshews and zappe's playing in NFL.

He is probably the most bland QB I have ever seen. I mean just there. I have seen crappy QBs show fire and fluke into game winning drives but not this guy.

He has played what - 36 or so games and how many game winning drives? I think 1? I know for certain that if we are behind and have the ball on last drive we would not win.

He is serviceable but that's it.

Unless the run game gets going this season then Mac will continue to look bland. His game is play action passing that is what he thrived in as a rookie we had a solid run game and Harris and rham weren't getting stuffed behind the LOS like now. So there you have it.. no play action then Mac can't get into a rhythm and hit his WRs. Everything is going to be a struggle without being able to run effectively and make defenses respect the running attack. Mac is a good QB just not playing to his potential right now. 5TDs and 5 INTS. His line isn't helping him, his WRs aren't helping him either. Unfortunately the QB has to be the one to make it work.

With that said, Mac has not shown any upside in that he's a skill player/better OL away from taking it to the next level. His footwork, pocket presence, arm strength, anticipation, decision making and release are all pretty bad. Then you have him running full steam for the first down marker, only to get trucked by a DB short of the sticks. He's looking like he's a back up at best.

Mac's arm strength is OK but requires good technique which he lacks (footwork). Pocket presence is awful. Decision making is awful. Anticipation is OK if he makes the right decision. Release is OK if his footwork is OK (which it is not). It is mostly Mac's footwork, pocket presence, and decision making that are awful IMO. The other issues follow on after Mac' shortcomings let him down.

Absolutely correct, no blocking no run game, no blocking no pass game. Kirk cousins would struggle too in this offense.

Agreed. In this case he has weapons at his disposal and a good O line. This is solely on Daniel jones. He wasn't put in a Mac situation.

Not sure if Daboll would rush back into coaching. He would still have three years left on his contract.

That said. I doubt he will be fired after this year considering he had success and exceeded expectations last year. I think he would have at least one more year.

Ok. Considering judge had an opportunity. He did have a great year last season snd got his team to the 2nd round of the playoffs. Then again BB has shown he doesn't mind having friends back on the staff at other teams expense.

A peculiar choice indeed. Played only 1 full season at Alabama in 2020 where every game including the national championship was a blowout. Mac is getting exposed, its becoming clear that he's not the type of QB that can turn water into wine.

I didn't read a single post on this thread. I will just say back during this draft , I had a buddy who said trading up for Mac would be a smart move. I disagreed and said I didn't trust for this regime to build the appropriate offense for a Mac Jones ...nevermind trading up for him.

I am usually very happy to be right. This time. I feel very bad for being right.
