Would love to have him back, but with the limited cap space we have, I doubt we will keep him especially if we try to resign Flowers. I guess Wynn will be our LT next season!

I'd franchise the beast and sign Flowers long term other free agents we can replace.

Hopefully the 31 other franchises subscribe to the PFF Enterprise scouting package :)

OLine was amazing with Brown at LT. Brown was already an elite pass protector then Dante made him a good run blocker too. Would rather keep Brown and maybe let Wynn battle with Thuney for LG.

By all accounts, Browns was very happy here in NE. Yes, he is going to get some big time offers, and at 25, he would be nuts to not take them. But unlike many NFL guys, who come into their first shot at FA, he has been on more than one team, so he does know that your experience varies greatly from team to team, so he might be willing to take slightly less to stay in NE. But if someone gives him a Solderlike contract, he would be crazy not to take it.

Bottomline is that either way this would be a great trade for the Pats, they trade the #95 pick for Brown and pick #143 (Ju'wan Bentley). If Brown leaves the Pats will most likely get around pick #99 back as a 2020 com pick.

Brown kind of scares me because he feels like one of those guys who might half ass things once he gets paid.

Can’t be 100%, but I fear the same thing... was amazing this season (despite PFF, pfffft). I’m cool letting Wynn have at it. (Also, never understood why lotsa people on here are trying to replace Thuney who’s been a workhorse, and steadying influence)

Brown was not good regular season.
He stepped up his game thru the playoffs and was very good.
That being said, he is w/o question the weakest link on the ol. Wynn has great potential. I'd prefer we keep him(brown), continuity on ol is crucial. Then let Wynn play both g and t as quality depth.
But if it comes down to brown or flowers,it's a no brainer. You gotta sign flowers.

He made a comment about “winning the lottery” in free agency a couple months back. I think he’s taking the highest bid.

He was inconsistent in the run game but as pass protector he was pretty damn good throughout the entire season. Saying he is the weakest link on the OL is far off.

All that being said I agree that Flowers would be the more impactful signing.

Both are damn good tackles. I honestly don't understand where all of that dismissive tone is coming from after one of the best seasons by the OL in the Brady/BB era.

Left Tackle is a highly sought after position. If Solder could garner $15m a year last year, with a rising cap in 2019 Brown can likely expect a team to pony up a similar amount. Even if they don't someone will offer somewhere in the $12m+ range. I just don't see how we can offer that - especially as we drafted an OT in the first round last year who we aren't going to leave on the bench.

The only middle way is to trade/cut Cannon and re-sign Brown at about $12m.

Maybe I’m falling into the trap of “recency” but I’d say THE best.

Yep, I think it's unlikely Brown is back. Obviously this has something to do with the Wynn injury progress (though that's likely to be unclear until later in the year), but you just spent a first round pick on your future LT and have a solid depth player in Waddle. Just looking at the roster and all the needs, I can't imagine paying Brown like a top offensive tackle is realistic. Patriots always look for value, and it's not likely to be here. They're more likely to try to find another high-potential tackle on the cheap on send him through the Scar rehabilitation program.
