for me, there is no differenceWhether it would be his last season altogether or merely his last with the team is anyone’s guess.

We should draft at least a QB this year and next year. So, to be very clear, several of you think that we should be developing a QB with the strong possibility of him starting in 2020.
So, what is the best plan? Is 2 years of training the best plan, perhaps augmented with drafting another next year if it is deemed that insurance (and backup) is needed)?
Why would you extend a 41 year old GOAT who is in a 15 mill deal?Brady is playing 2018 and 2019 for $15M a year. An extension wouldn't change that. What would change is the 2018 cap and the number of years of joint commitment.
Are you suggesting that if Brady comes to the team before the 2019 season that he would be more likely to sign to play for $15M in 2020 and 2021?
It is what it is. You don’t extend a 41 year old QB with 2 years left. If brady still wants to play at 43 (or if they need cap money in 2019) they will deal with the contract then.I'm not sure how to interpret this?
The longer he plays at 15M/year...the longer we stay at the top, IMO.

We disagree. The bonus money was paid years and years ago in a year with a low first year salary. Brady is being paid $15M for his 2018 services. To out it another way, let's say a new contract were written that included a new $14 bonus and $1M salary. So the cap would be $7M old bonus, $7M new bonus plus $1M salary this year and a $15M salary next.. According to you, Brady would now being paid $15M this this year and $29M next year, the value of his caps. For me, he would be getting the same $15M a year as before.Brady is not playing for $15m this year or next. The mediots at SI & PFT threw that incorrect number, that doesn't include his bonus cash at $7m per, out there this morning and it has been making the rounds all day. His cap hit is $22m in both years

Semantics. Brady will make 15 mill this year. He was oaid a bonus in 2o16 if 28 mill that he pocketed in 2016 but is charged to the cap at 7 mill per year in 16,17,18,19.Brady is not playing for $15m this year or next. Uh, I agree that we definitely disagree but you are the one that is wrong. I am unclear how we can be in disagreement over the cap hit for an existing contract. Try looking something up rather than trusting the mediots because you have been misled by them. What exactly is your definition of 'years and years ago?' The money in question was from his extension signed in 2016. His cap numbers in both '18 & '19 are $22M, you can verify my statement at these two locations:

Where can I verify your proclamation?
I don't care what the cap hit is. I don't care what the bonus was. It is now irrelevant, other than to evaluate whether Brady and the team got a good deal so far.

The cap number is the only relevant number.

So he is playing for 15 mill this year but the cap accounting charges the team 22 mill.
