You are trying to create a false equivalency between "planting evidence" and "evidence being found inadmissible."

While some believe the video evidence against Kraft may be ruled inadmissible, that is light years away from "planting evidence." There have been exactly zero accusations that the evidence here was planted.

If the video evidence is ruled inadmissible (even though they got a warrant for it before placing it) then sorry not sorry, but that's the textbook definition getting off on a technicality.

I don't know that he planted evidence, but the defense certainly implied that he did (specifically with the infamous black glove). With his credibility completely shot, police malfeasance was probably a pretty easy sell to the mostly-black jury in what was already a racially-charged atmosphere.

Anyone can make a glove not fit. It just takes a tensing of the hand, and that's all but imperceptible to people not looking for it. I used to demonstrate that to people who insisted that the glove was proof of innocence rather than just not being proof of guilt.

I freely admit my memory of the details of that case may certainly be poor, so anything I say about the OJ specifics should be taken with a shaker of salt.

He was seen leaving a business that is now shut down for breaking laws. He was stopped driving down the road and produced his driver's license.

Beating the formal charges is great. Kraft won't have a police record, but thats never going to change the fact that Kraft was at Orchid and everyone knows what went on there

Furthermore, if Kraft skates on this that only verifies that with enough money you can buy your way out of anything.

It's going to be another OJ trial where everything that the police and prosecutors have ever done is on the table.

I’ve been saying this from day one. This case is about the a legacy crushing video and a scandalous, horrible investigation gone wrong.

It goes along with my theory that the police will be in very hot water about how they abused their warrant (it was used way beyond the scope of uncovering a sex trafficking operation, as no judge would ever allow a surveillance warrant for a misdemeanor.). This will get really ugly for the police about how they’ve let prostitutes continue to be abused ON VIDEO and done nothing about it, and why they continued to use surveillance despite already having evidence of prostitution. Also, no audio??! Lol!!!

So what do they have left? The ultimate leverage, which is an illegally obtained tape of each John which they should not have but is humiliating nonetheless. That’s why they wanted this case to die right away, because the police sheriff appears to be in deep crap.

So the offer to drop the charges for admittance of guilt may have really been about agreeing to suppress the video but also getting acknowledged that they were doing legit police work.

Hence this is why Kraft has a team of super lawyers. This is all about suppression of the video tape. If the tape is suppressed, the entire PD should start looking for new jobs because their entire case and more importantly, leverage, is gone. At that point they’ll be subject to lawsuits and complete terror by a billionaire’s army of attorneys. That investigation will be ripped to shreds.

You're dreaming. Nobody is suing the law enforcement officers here.

All the points you make are predicated on your first point, which is that you can prosecute illegal activities discovered in he investigation of another crime. You may be able prosecute, but your case is really built on evidence which may not be admissible. The question about the extent of a warrant is not always clear and often varies by jurisdiction. But in general it has to do with what the police knew and when they knew it - and in that context the necessity of continued surveillance.

You really think a judge grants a surveillance warrant for an unspecified amount of time without strict orders about what its being used for? If a judge suspects the police decided to change the focus of their investigation since they knew there was no human trafficking, and instead decided to focus on using that the same warrant for misdemeanors, you think that’s going to be admissible? There’s going to be a lot of debate about the admissibility of this video, and if they release it and then a judge tosses it from evidence, the police have basically now released to the public a pornographic video of someone who wasn’t aware he was being taped. Yeah, no potential issues here. This is one big bad game of chicken.
