I see there's another Ernesto's fan here. I should have read on before I posted my recommendation.

The best part about the North End is that if you can go there on a weekday and park 2 hours for free right on Hanover St, as long as it's between the hours of noon and 5 PM. I'm in there at least twice a month.

My favorite pizza I've ever had. Brought my buddy from VA and told him it would be the best pizza he's ever eaten, he laughed. When we got there he took one bite and said damn you were right.

There's been a Papa Gino's in town my whole life and I don't think I've tried it once. Nobody ever talks about it, it's always either a local place or Domino's. I personally like Domino's and found that the local place I used to like isn't as good as I remembered after a few months away from home, but maybe someday I'll give Papa Gino's a try.

Domino's may be processed and terrible for you but I think there's something to be said for that.

If you have a yen for corporate pizza, stop looking past that Papa Gino's. Papa Gino's >>> Domino's.

Wow chill out buddy. You read waaay to far into that. ************, I meant you wouldn't want it because it sucks! And I imagine pizza in NJ is better than average.

Oh, ok. Why didn't you just come out and say it sucked then? lol. I'm not a mind reader. As for whether NJ's pizza is better, I wouldn't know, 'cause I've never tried pizza from MA. In any case, I'm not a picky eater. If the pizza taste good and taste like pizza, I'm eating it.

Taking my lead from Belichick and Brady who always speak respectfully of their opponents, Colorado deserves some respect for Beau Jo's Mountain Pies - oversized overstuffed pizzas - including the 14 POUND Grand Sicilian.

Christiancat, I weep for you. I lived in California for five years, and during that time I never ate anything that I could in good conscience call pizza. Even high-priced "gourmet" pizza places just produced utterly tasteless garbage with weird fancy toppings. Cajun crawfish pizza, *shudder*.

As for Domino's...well, imagine that your entire exposure to seafood was a can of Bumblebee's Chunk Light Tuna. (Papa John's might be closer to Fancy Feast Tuna Entree.)

For MA folks, Papa Gino's will never compare to your favorite local joint (Joe Pizza in Medford for me), but it's totally acceptable when you need a lot of cheap pizza for a crowd.

There's a great pizza place in Berkeley called cheeseboard. There's not really a menu. They're a cheese shop that happens to sell pizza. So everyday, there's a pizza of the day.

Screw Manning, the Broncos, John Shnatter and his crappy pizza.

Papa Gino's is my favorite pizza (I'd get pizza at least a few times a month if not more) - but I moved a NC a year and a half ago and no Papa Gino's (it's a New England regional chain).

I had Papa John's pizza for the first time about a month ago and was unimpressed. Never was a fan of Domino's.

Please tell me there was an only-funny-years-later aftermath, maybe a curse-laden invitation never to return?

My grandpa basically has gone there every Sunday night for 40 plus years, so we just apologized (I think my brother was something like 8 or 9 years old), they had a high school kid clean it up---it was outside anyway!--and we carried on, business as usual.

That rude and mean attitude sounds very similar to Santarpio's in East Boston. It never worked for me. If they want my business I'd prefer they at least act like they care. There are too many places where I can get a decent pizza and not have to deal with rude servers.

Trust me, when I gave them an ID from out of state that says I am 30 years old and that I have the exact same name as my father and grandfather, and they still turn me down for beer, and then they wouldn't take my passport, I was pretty irritated. But then my Dad just orders enough beer for the both of us and they end up looking the other way.

This is the only place my grandpa will accept, and he's a very stubborn person. Every Sunday for 40 years. I can usually stomach the servers because they feign pleasantness to my grandpa and because the pizza not only tastes good, but tastes like my childhood.

That Papa John's guy is an obnoxious dweeb and the commercials with Manning give me nightmares. I think I'll go stand in front of one of their shops and barf on the window.

Caserta's on Federal Hill...a Wimpy Skippy, bottle of Gansett and a few slices of tomato pie...sorta nice

Lynwood Pizza in Randolph, Mass.

The servers are old, rude, and mean. The owner is a stupid, old, cheap prick. My uncle worked there for years when he was a kid and the guy refused to give him even a 5 cent raise. They actually close for two weeks in August rather than allowing anyone to go on vacation. They have no ATM, cash only. They don't accept any IDs that are not Mass. IDs, including passports or military IDs. The only reason I've ever gotten a beer there is because they know my Dad and they give him however many beers he asks for. My brother once threw up outside when we were kids trying to eat an entire pizza.

But my God, that is some good pizza. Amazing.

Sounds like Santarpios in East Boston. Great pizza and skewers, no BS service and pitchers of cheap beer.

That Papa John's guy is an obnoxious dweeb

And a horrible person to boot. The kind of guy who throws his employees under the bus... hey, wait, that sounds familiar. Explains a lot.

As for pizza, there's not a ton of choice down here in the DC area (nothing like NYC/Boston) but if you're around try Radius or Italian Pizza Kitchen for bougie pizza with names like 'margherita' and The Italian Store (in Arlington, but same difference) or We The Pizza for good New York-style.

Domino's has its place, but let's not pretend it's pizza. It's Domino's. You eat it when you're drunk at 2am and they're running a 2 for $10 deal.
