Joe Milton is a "better option" than any QB available in this year's NFL Draft.

so was Corey Dillon, and Randy Moss, they were "given away" for a reason
Totally different
Both players were sick of losing and wanted to play for a winner
So they became disgruntled. But were good teammates
Pickens takes tantrums because he does not get the ball and is a locker room cancer

According to multiple NFL insiders there is very little, if any trade interest in Milton.

Seems to me this "trade interest" is being manufactured by this board.
I believe that.

Why would you be interested in Milton when Cam Ward and Shadeur Sanders are there for the taking?

Yep. Rapaport said it this morning. He is hearing zip from teams re: interest in trading for Milton.

With that said, after Ward, SS, Dart and maybe Ewers and McCord are gone, some team with an established starter and an old man/middling prospect for a backup MIGHT be willing to give up a 4th for him.

I don't view as signing Dobbs as an inditement on Milton's ability or upside. Maye still needs a vet to mentor him. That isn't Milton.

His physical talent is undeniable and did show some things vs BUF (vs 3rd teamers)

If that is all that is offered then it’s better to keep Milton.

He offers more value to the Pats than a 4th round pick.

Way too many fans are over-valuing Milton as a quality backup and what he would fetch in a trade.
Don’t think of him as a backup, think of how he compares to the top QBs in this draft. If he compares favorably then he’s worth a very high pick. Right?

Because he’s as good/better, and for the next 3 years he would be far less expensive.

And those who believe that he compares well with the best QBs in the draft are either his agents, his relatives or posters on patriots' message boards.

Agree. Trading for a 4th makes no sense at this point.
I wouldn't draft him in the 4th or less during Training Camp. However, we have him with a year of experience. And we need to have 3 QBs on the roster. However, I could see us draft a QB in the 6th again and trading Milton for a 4th. Much depends on how Josh values Milton, not how posters value Milton.

If I was a GM I'd be throwing a 3rd round pick offer to the pats for Milton without hesitation.

Thread title could use an update. So whoever drafts Ward will be willing to swap for Milton since he’s a better option? Would take that trade in a heartbeat and proceed to laugh at the GM fired for that move and team who did it.

There were exactly 14 of 32+ QBs who played 17 games* last season (thank you go-to-hell: Thur night football & 17 game season).

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/stats...r/qualifiers/?sortdir=descending&sortcol=yds/

* can maybe count 2 16-game QBs (Stanford/mahomes) held out optionally. Still only 1/2 the league.

So, you can practically guarantee (particularly with a young mobile qb & ‚formerly?‘ ****ty; but at least still getting-to-know-eachother OL) that we will play a backup for an average of 3-4 games.

I’d like to see Milton in those 3 games.
Trading him now is a self-inflicted reqd-depth injury.

We have an inexperienced, mobile QB, no running game, and the worst offensive line in football...

Milton is going to get into some games this year if he remains a Patriot. If he looks even remotely competent in two NFL games he's most likely worth a Day 1 pick going into next year's draft.

I wouldn't be in a rush to trade the guy if he's not being overvalued yet... it's the NFL just wait a minute and someone will give up a 2nd round pick for him.

I hope Cam Ward is the real deal his College game seems so similar to Milton .. and he was throwing to better players. Let Milton continue to develop would like to see how he looks in year Two. Look at Anthony Richardson was taken Fourth overall and plays like a Seventh Rounder: most times we never know.

I've enjoyed the discussion though.

I'd like to see the Pats keep Milton. In his brief time he didn't look lost and could turn out to have some value.

IMO He’s definitely better than Sanders.
Other than Ward I can’t say he ranks any worse than any other QB in the draft. It’s a bad QB draft class.
Tyler Shough looks good but is 25. Outside him and Ward I don’t see another QB with any shot of NFL success and Milton has special arm strength that’s intriguing if he can really improve mechanics and accuracy

Because he’s as good/better,
You have got to be kidding.

There is a reason why every NFL team passed on him (at least) 6 times. And one good game against Buffalo's backups doesn't change that.

Mac Jones? Agree he's adequate as a backup but he'd probably want to be somewhere other than NE.

I never want to see Mac Jones again, unless he’s the starting quarterback for the opposing team. I have a better arm and I have torn my rotator cuff in 3 places and torn the bicep off the bone in my shoulder. But at least I can throw a football 20 feet.
