The Browns are aggressively trying to trade cornerback Joe Haden says:

As it stands, Haden ranks No. 7 in average salary among cornerbacks (per Spotrac.com) but he was one of the NFL's worst-performing cornerbacks last season, according to ProFootball Focus' grading system. He finished 115th out of 132 cornerbacks among all cornerbacks

The big salary (due $11M this year) is the reason you don't offer a pick for him, because then the contract comes with the player.

Now, he's a free agent.



Seems he wants to "bet on himself". Terrible time of the year to try to get a big contract. Most of the cap is spent all around the league.
