Jimmy Garoppolo traded to SF for 2018 2nd round draft pick

The Texans just got Jeremy Lane, a 2018 5th-round pick and a 2019 second-round pick to Texans for OT Duane Brown. You mean to tell me we could only get a 2nd. Just doesn't seem right.

Only thing I can say is that's supper annoying that you can't even get more for him than you spent on him.

This pick should be worth almost double what the #62 pick was worth, and of course they got 3 1/2 years of a backup QB, too. So the value seems fine. If you're looking for something weird about this deal, maybe it's...

TRADING AWAY YOUR ONLY BACKUP QB HALFWAY INTO A PLAYOFF-BOUND SEASON!!!

That does seem a wee bit weird, yeah.

JAG is still on the roster

Nothing definitive yet

In my opinion, this is the tip of the iceberg, and BB is about to get wild as the deadline looms. Saw that teams are calling about Lewis, too - I think things are going to get quite interesting.

Regardless - I wish Jimmy the absolute best and I’m looking forward to watching him grow with SF.

They should've packaged Brian Hoyer too!

He knows the system :p

During the draft, I would have yelled ********. But it makes sense now. The Browns were never going to spend a 1st on a QB, they seem motivated to build the rest of the roster and try to luck into a QB somehow.

Just wow. Only a 2nd rounder. Doesn't seem near enough. I know the pick will be top 3 in round 2, but Jimmy was pick 62. So BB gained about 30 spots in the draft?
I guess we will see what happens.

35 is worth lots, lots more than 62. Plus, the team has had a backup. The team has been getting value for JAG as long as he has been a backup.

Hey I umm I was soooo wrong when I thought JG would be our QBOTF

Are we loading up for a big trade or something ?? Only a 2nd
That thought ran through my head. Maybe they need a high draft pick for an upcoming splash and they had already decided Brady isn't going anywhere.

The pick could end up being pretty damn good, on the borderline of being a late first.

makes no sense to trade now, after refusing better picks in the off season

This makes me feel much better. The thought of the Pats passing on a pick that could have brought them Deshawn Watson as Brady's heir apparent would have drove me crazy.

Rumors, rumors, rumors. That’s all the offseason speculation. No one has real proof. I don’t agree with the trade at this time but no way they were offered 2 first round draft picks. Your niave to think so.

Good point. I guess the shock of a 2nd rounder is only because I thought the Pats were offered "multiple first rounders" around draft time.

You can't pay 2 quarterbacks, Jimmy G was never taking a discount to sit on the bench.

It was obvious the Patriots had to pick one by the start of next year, they chose Brady, this pick will be 1st or 2nd pick of the 2nd round, so it's not that bad a pick for a guy in the last year.

I think all those multiple first rounders was just talk.

We knew this at draft when Cleveland was gathering assets for an offer. I’m in utter shock right now
