This was my thought when the trade was confirmed.

Geez, if he waited another day, maybe he could have had a 3RD pick in 2023........

That's not clear at all.

Comments like yours remind me of the people who said the same sort of nonsense about the Cassel trade when, in fact, there was a potential deal for a 1st round pick being worked out, but the Patriots decided they couldn't (or didn't want to) wait for it to get put together.

This isn’t surprising value. The 49ers aren’t getting Garoppolo in time to fix their 2017 season, so it’s basically a second round pick for a half-season tryout and exclusive negotiating rights.

I’m more interested in the thought process behind being willing to trade him away now. Will be interesting to see who they bring in as the backup.

A 2nd rounder? I mean...eh. I didn't expect us to keep him next year but that's a pretty weak return considering what we could have had him for. No Brady insurance for the remainder of the year.

But it does indeed look like Brady is sticking around for another few years.

Jimmy G was pick 62 I believe. Good shot this will be pick 34 (same pick the Pats got for Cassel).
