100 Years

I'm fifteen for a moment
No Super Bowl between 10 and 20
And I'm dreaming
Counting the ways that real teams do

I'm twenty two for a moment
Draftin' better than ever
And we're on fire
Makin our way back from the bars

Fifteen there's still time for you
Time to love the JEST and time to lose
Fifteen, there's never been a curse as sick as this
When you've only got one hundred years to live

I'm thirty three for a moment
Still a fan, but it's getting old
New fans in the fold,
My family's buying in

I'm forty five for a moment
My hopes are high
but it's another yearly crisis
Wasting the years of my life

Fifteen there's still time for you
Time to cry, time to lose (again)
wait for a morning star
Fifteen, I'm alright with you
Fifteen, there's never been a curse as sick as this
When you only got one hundred years to live

Half time goes by
Suddenly you're wise
Another ring for the other guy
Sixty seven is gone
The score is getting high
The Pats are on to (your team here)

I'm ninety nine for a moment
Dying for just another New York moment
And I'm just dreaming
Counting the ways to where the Pats are

Fifteen there's still time for you
Twenty two, you've got time to get out too
Thirty three, question your reality
Every day's a new day
Fifteen there's still time for you
Time to buy gear, time to choose
Hey fifteen, lose the wish, get a flying Elvis,
You only got one hundred years to live.

Wow!!! Bravo.

No sense always hanging around those who regurgitate your own thoughts/opinions back to you.

You don't like hanging around other guys that like getting their balls kicked?

Yeah, @PatsWSB47 beat me to the punch on this one. Maybe that line of thinking applies to the political forums, but I think this one is just a well received nuts kick as well.

well then..I'd like to suggest you hang around Riyadh in Saudi Arabia as a 7th day Adventist missionary...or perhaps a refreshing sojourn to Iran as an anti-mullah Mormon...happy trails!

Knockin’ On CFL’s Door

Mama take this helmet off of me
I can't use it anymore
I’m throwing dimes to the wrong team
I feel I'm knockin' on CFL’s door

Knock-knock-knockin' on CFL’s door
Knock-knock-knockin' on CFL’s door
Knock-knock-knockin' on CFL’s door
Knock-knock-knockin' on CFL’s door

Mama put my ball in the ground
I can't throw it anymore
That number twelve is comin' down
I feel I'm knockin' on CFL’s door

Knock-knock-knockin' on CFL’s door
Knock-knock-knockin' on CFL’s door
Knock-knock-knockin' on CFL’s door
Knock-knock-knockin' on CFL’s door

Divisional titles in the 21st century,

Patriots: 15 (inevitably 16)
Jets: 1

That's hilarious.

Here's one of my favorites that comes up here every year. It might even be here already but it's so much fun to do that I'll just do it again.

Below are two columns. What do they represent?

The column on the left are the Pats seasons with 10 or more wins. Those listed above the ----- are the Brady years.

The column on the right are the Jete 10 or more win seasons in their entire history.

That kind of puts their suckage in perspective.

My favorite long time stat are that the Jets are still tied with the Houston Oilers for # of AFC East titles in their history with 4.

For some more context, Houston moved to the AFC Central in 1970. 2 of the Jets AFC East division titles occurred before the AFL-NFL merger. After the merger (also in 1970), it took the Jets 28 years to win the AFC East again.

Darnold is inactive. Is he injured or benched?

Hey they had 10 good years in there.

Total.

Eh well, even TFB had one year with 9 wins. ONE. That didn't sit well with him.

When I think of the Patriots' run of dominance, I often think about the blessings of watching this dynasty. It's been 9 full seasons since we missed the playoffs (the Cassel year.)

Making the playoffs is fairly easy (unless you're the JEST) so I won't hold that up as a gold standard. But let's think about the math. To say in 2009, "I think the Patriots will make the playoffs for each of the next 9 years," here's how much better than random you have to do.

You have to be among the top 6 teams out of 16 (6/16 = 37.5% chance, a little less than the top 1/3 of the league).

Now take that 6/16 chance and continue to apply it to future years, applying the previous possibility sum to what had already happened. To predict "New England will make the playoffs in 2009 and 2010" before the 2009 season, suddenly you have to take 37.5% chance from 2009 and multiply it by the chance from 2010, also 37.5%. You end up with a 14% chance--that's just for predicting 2 straight years of NE making the playoffs.

And so on. You get the idea - nine years is .375^9. Third year's 5.25% chance. Fourth year, 1.96% chance. Fifth year, about 3/4 of 1 percent. From the fifth to the ninth year it's just a continuing march of the infinitesimal.

So this Pats run, just from the fact of making the playoffs that reliably, is pretty much impossible... unless the rest of the league generates a combination of utter losers, and/or, there are factors applying to the Patriots that make the impossible possible. It's a combo. And we wont even talk about championships and super bowls.

I bring this up not to further destroy your sense of football fan self, Jetsfan. I only want to thank you and your team for your remarkable ability to underperform. It takes patsies in this league to make the Pats what they are, and you are them. 37.5% of the time, your JEST should be making the playoffs. A little more than 1/3 of seasons, you should have made the playoffs.

I'll remind you of the times the JEST did so:
1960s: 2 seasons
1970s: Ohfer.
1980: 4 seasons
1990s: 2 seasons
2000s: 5 seasons!!!!
2010s: 1 season.

If you are frustrated being a JEST fan, consider that your real zenith thus far has coincided with the Brady years. HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!

More to the point, your general incompetence more often contributed to the Patriots ability to roll over the league since 2001. Your 6 playoff berths since 2000 equate to just less than that .375 chance - 6/17 chances to do so. And this includes your single most successful stretch in JEST history. However, you made 14 out of 57 possible seasons total... granted, your incompetence in the early 60s are sort of a write-off, unless you're on the older side... but the 1970s couldn't have felt great either

So we do have something in common; the 2000s were really glorious years for both our teams, relative to our respective bars.

Do you feel like the 2000s were triumphant years, JEST fan?

No?

That's as good as it gets. But like I said, you play a part in the story. We need for you (and others) to have a low ceiling, so we keep you at that level.

toodles!

Well, the Jete took a cue from GM Mike Cro-magnon and officially have bailed on the season. Good job, Mike! A disappointing effort from Josh McClown at quarterback, whose primary goal appears to be avoiding getting concussed with retirement looming. His stat line resembled a typical Dam Darnit effort -- 17-34-135, two interceptions.

Too bad coach Odd Blowes probably will lose his job now. The Jete are a heartless bunch of incompetent losers, delivering their delusional fans yet another hearty ...
