This has an opening post with good commentary and information, which we definitely recommend reading.

Another Jet's classic as they contemplate the deep science and psychology of suckitudism.

Jete are the only AFCE team to lose to Atlanta in 2017, giving their fans a special early Halloween treat:

The Jets are the ultimate tease to fans who don’t deserve this

The Jets are just good enough to lose.

They play well enough to win, but only to a point. And then they find a way to dutifully hand the game off to their opponent as if to play right into the self-fulfilling prophecy as the losing team they were predicted to be before the season began.
Three weeks and three blown second-half leads later, those thoughts have abated. The narrative has changed. Now the Jets are in a fight to show they aren’t the team we all thought they were at the start of the season, which is to say a bad one.

It's only natural to wonder what these kids did to warrant being forced to sit and watch Jete futility in the rain. Did they get caught shoplifting? Fail social studies? Attend a drinking party? His parents even made that poor boy on the left attach stickers to his face. Public humiliation is the worst.

That troll Jete fan didn't listen. He and many others in that delusional fanbase thought change was coming. This is the reality, enough of the delusion.

Another wasted year of the Jete. The tank failed. The playoffs are likely to fail within the next two games and we get to laugh knowing we knew all along.

Great picture for a "Caption This Photo" contest.

My entry: "Why did I have to get born into a family of Jete Fans?"

I'm thinking: Misery loves company.

"(The Jete) go down the field looking like the Montana 49ers, and then..."

"(The Jete say) we got Hackenburg. We got Petty. We can't afford to take another quarterback (Deshaun Watson) again."

"By the end of the (HOU-SEA) game I was crying, crying because we didn't take Watson"

“We’ve got two QBs who have shown nothing but suckage for 1-2 years each! We can’t afford to draft a guy with talent who has actually won big games!”

HOU has shown what you have to do, even if it looks ugly or stupid at times. In the NFL, till you have a franchise QB, you have nothing. Even making the Ostweiler deal makes sense. Sure it was ugly but that's the kind of thing you have to do to try and hit on a franchise QB. Picking safeties in the first and second round is like surrendering. Good thing the Jete have a front office that hasn't figured it out yet.

The more time goes by, the more clear it is that "draft value" is a broken concept. If you're a team that doesn't have a franchise QB, it's worth every asset you have to get one. Sure, that means the rest of the team around the QB falls apart, but you can fix that after you get the franchise QB. And once you have the franchise QB, the next thing to do is protect him. Forget about drafting safeties and DLs like the Jets keep doing. Get the offense squared away first.

It bears repeating that in the last 8 years, when the Jets desperately needed to acquire a franchise QB and the Pats definitively did not, here are the rookie QBs that two franchises drafted/signed as UDFA.

2009 Mark Sanchez 73.9 Career Rating
2011 Greg McElroy 79.2
2013 Geno Smith 72.4
2014 Tajh Boyd N/A
2015 Bryce Petty 60.0
2016 Christian Hackenberg N/A

2009 Brian Hoyer 83.3 Career Rating
2011 Ryan Mallett 66.8
2014 Jimmy Garoppolo 106.2
2016 Jacoby Brissett 81.5

No Jets acquisition has been better than Hoyer in their career, even though they spent a high 1st, a 2nd, and two 4ths on that position.

The Jets also played Ryan Fitzpatrick, who compiled a 70.0 Rating as a Jet, and Josh McCown, who is currently rocking a 95.3 (the future!).

I believe that the Pats got assets back in return from every QB except for Hoyer, and the Jets received none for theirs.

If I were a Jets fan, I'd be really proud of my team. In true Patriots fashion, they are good example of a team that is better than the sum of their individual parts. It's been a great coaching job, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised when they fire him at the end of the season.

What the heck?

Should the Jets fans be proud that their terrible players add up to a team that is on the lousy side of mediocrity? Should they be proud that they only just managed to lose a game against a team on a downward spiral that gave them two turnovers on muffed snaps? Or should they just be proud that they can suck at sucking and still suck?

On the other hand, this is all moot, of course. If I were a Jets fan, I'd give up on football -- it would either have to be that or suicide.
