McDaniels influences the game plan. All those crap hand off plays to Harry are definitely McDaniels not Belichick. McD helped pick Harry, looks like a total jackass now about it, was trying to cover his ass. It's obvious Meyers is 50X better than Harry
If we go by this, it can explain the report that Brady and Josh had a little disagreement on personnel. You think BB will play someone because of this draft status? BB? I disagree, it is probably because Meyers does not show this in practice when going up against our secondary.

It was obvious McDaniels was playing favorites. Crappy handoffs to Harry just to get him the ball. Rot Meyers on the inactive roster till week7. Rot Damien Harris in favor of Sony. Those guys only played because McD's binkies got hurt. I bet Asiasi is an awesome player just because McD has called zero targets for him in 80 snaps. McD is the worst talent evaluator of any OC in football.

Now lets see if this is his Jonas Grey game, or he can sustain it.

Meyers has clearly been better than Harry from the start. For instance this year Harry has 19 catches for 172 yards, or seven more catches and 3 more yards than Meyers had last night!

He was amazing in the preseason last year when playing with Stidham. Brady had no real interest in playing with rookies...so they buried him.... And he stayed buried... until now.

This whole refrain on this board is laughable. Brady had no interest in rookies. Except for the handful of rookies that did he have interest throwing to. And the ones he didn't throw to never did anything. Of course let's forget that last year's OL was Cunningham, Karras, Marshall Newhouse and a badly hurt Shaq Mason. That had nothing to do with receivers and QBs not clicking.

The patriots WR he reminds me the most of is Jabar Gaffney. Roughly the same build but deceptively quick and have a knack for just being open. As a "Possession" receiver I think the stats are realistic too... Gaffney had somewhere between 30-70 catches a year and was a few catches away from breaking 1000 yards one season. I think if Meyers turned into that type of receiver for us it would be a huge success... Don't think he is a #1 by any means but doesn't mean he can't have a VERY productive career.

Maybe I missed it but I can't remember him ever juggling the ball or double-catching - seems to have great hands and he's only played WR for 4 years in his life... recruited to college as a QB.

We've actually had a few of these guys. David Givens, Gaffney as you've said, but also Brandon Lloyd (who to my shock preferred these Meyers routes even though I expected him to go deep when we signed him). All were possession guys. & we were looking for the same from Sanu. These are good #2s. I also think of Amendola but he seemed to be able to do a lot of other things too.

Jakobi Meyers

  • Highest catch rate (74.2%) for a pats WR since 2017 Amendola
  • Highest yards per route run (2.91) for a pats WR since 2015 Edelman
  • Highest graded pats WR (PFF) since 2015 Edelman
  • 4th highest graded WR behind Adams, Metcalf & Brown since week 7
We’ll see if cinderella comes crashing down against better corners but he’s been phenomenal since filling in against the 49ers.

Really happy for Myers , putting up a show like this helps him and the team.

Keep feeding Meyers. And Byrd too. I think thats a good duo. But we need to run it more with Harris (hopefully just a minor injury). Imagine if we get some TE contributions at some point

You really are the new NEM of this board and I've been reading your rants against Josh for too long now. Your entire promise that Josh is responsible for bad draft picks is completely erroneous and has not merit. You seem to think that Josh has all this power in the draft room and its total garbage. When he bailed on the Colts to stay with the Pats in 2018, it was widely reported that, aside from his salary, that Bill would start to pull the curtain back and include him in inner workings of the team, including the draft process and salary cap management. You cannot go more than a post without *****ing about McDaniels? It's like NEM all over again with Charlie and equally annoying. It's ridiculous.
For the love of god and country, try a new narrative.

It's a shame it took Harry getting injured to get this guy more involved, one of the few bright spots this year along with Byrd. If we ever do get a legit #1 these guys would be great complimentary pieces in the passing game moving forth and we would actually have a pretty good set.
We also need a legit #2 WR here, so that Byrd & Meyers can be moved to the # 3/4/5 roles their talent dictates.
