Ignorance of the law is not a defense that will hold up in court especially since there are signs all over Logan saying you can't have firearms in your luggage.

Historically the system almost always goes easy on first time offenders, especially for a non violent crime.. its not like Jack Jones has a record and is a problem child, he has a clean record and is seemingly a good kid who made a really dumb mistake

As much as I don't like MA's draconian gun laws, they need to be enforced (otherwise, why have them). If I did the same thing my license would be revoked among other things.

And he does have a record because of the Panda Express incident.

I believe that the vast majority of cases involve pleas. This is to avoid the cost of a trial. The defendant pleads GUILTY, has a record, and has a sentence less than the max if there had been a trial, and he was found guilty.

Even if there were a trial, it is not clear that there would be an jail time (apparently what folks want).

As far as precedent, the status quo is for the state to settle as often as possible.

What is ambiguous about it? There is 1000 signs at the airport which say you can't.

I have a MA Class A LTC for large capacity firearms and other states as well. You learn that when you get your LTC.

Every state's airport and airline shows the same thing....No firearms on the plane. Period.

Pretty straightforward as long as you can look at pictures and read at a 2nd grade level

That is from Oklahoma. Oklahoma gun laws are a bit less, just a bit, less restrictive than MA.
