Player Signing Jabrill Peppers signs with N.E.

I'm pretty sure that Peppers plays safety and not OLB. Unless he played that role in sub packages and someone has seen that happen? I don't really follow the Giants so I can't say for sure. At least the Patriots safety group got deeper, but it was already pretty good. It's our cornerbacks that need help.

lol, if BB takes a safety before taking a Cb, Wr or OL, I think the fan base will totally lose it.
Add all positions in the front 7 to your list.

I'm not saying what it is in his case, but it usually means that he can't actually do all those things, at least at the NFL level. When a guy can do everything, but he can't stick on a team and can't get good contracts, it's almost always 1 or more of 3 things:

  1. Can't stay healthy
  2. Is an *******
  3. Isn't really very good at anything

When you've been on multiple teams, and have been in the league for 4+ years, you usually are what you are.
This does not at all describe Peopers.
He has never “not stuck on a team”.
He was a key piece the Giants wanted in the OBJ trade.
He played his rookie contract and threw giants exercises the 5th year option.
This is the first time he has been a free agent and his market is impacted by his injury. And before last year he played 55 of 64 games.

Never lived up to the 1st round selection and now coming off a significant injury. Someone said he's like Dugger, who I like, although I don't think that comparison is a good one. Can't say I think Peppers will be impactful which is in line with the rest of the Patriots offseason. The team is putting a lot on year II of the Mac Jones led offense and potentially adding a few immediately impactful players through the draft.

Now Im really wondering how much zone we're going to play next year. T. Mitchell, Butler, Peppers, all of those new secondary guys, from what I know, are better suited for covering spaces rather than players.

Now Im starting to believe we will go after DLine help in the draft... We gotta have better players rushing if we indeed become a zone-heavy team, cant rely only in Judon and Barmore

Yea, it's looking that way, I'm perfectly fine w/ DT, DE, CB in any order of the top 3 picks. Throw in a Lavonte David type LB and we should be good to go on defense.

If we can build the D to shut down the run and create enough pass rush, it'll help the secondary to make plays.

We roll w/ our current offense and hope they get more production in their 2nd year.

Mitchell is camp fodder so he is meaningless.
Peppers will either be blitzing or covering a TE or RB.
Butler is not better suited to zone than man.

We will play both, as we always do. Zone more on early downs than 3rd and man more in 3rd than early.

I'm not an X's and O's expert by any stretch, but I don't think Rich knows how defense works if he thinks that's our base.
They are asking to get run on and ran over.
A Clowney signing would really be a big help to This defense.
I've been a Clowney hater for quite some time, but he had a bounce back year in Cleveland. He's best suited with a team opposite a dominate pass rusher like he had in Cleveland taking attention away from him. I would've put Judon in that category, but fell off a cliff late in the year.

Maybe, but regardless he comes with Zone ability

I read somewhere here that he wasnt good at man-cover. Cant say i know much about him, but from the videos I seen, he doesnt seem "sticky" enough
Butler is not better suited to zone than man.
He played better in zone in Tenesse, again, from what I read around. At 32, will we really rely on him covering receivers all over the field? Dont know if i trust that, doesnt make much sense to me

Of course we'll play both.... Dont know where I said we would play exclusively in zone... Heck, i didnt even predict more zone than man, I literally start the post with "I'm really wondering".

That personnel he rattled off would be primed for getting penetrated up the ass against any offense that decides to run the ball. Just a silly take from a trust fund kid with little perspective.

Teams will just run it down our throats with that line.
Possibly. I think the idea with a lineup like this would be to never let them out of the backfield.
