Depends where you line him up and who is covering in man.
This is a classic BB move.
Peppers is a versatile football player. And despite that we have good players in the traditional position he would be described to fit into, he will have a role.
I’m sure belichick’s view of that role will develop.
At the least you have a guy who in a nickel base that typically uses 3 safeties is part of a 4 man rotation where you can use any 3 together.
But he will also have specialized situational roles and be a big st contributor.
In Rodney Harrison last few years here, he virtually never covered anyone on 3rd down. He would blitz from many different spots, and while he rarely got to the QB he was a threat. Coming from 6 yards beyond the Los full bore and needing to (hopefully) get picked up by the RB made QBs hurry throws even when he got blocked. That was a role specifically designed for him. Peppers will have a unique role also.
