Irsay takes a bit of a shot a Manning.....

Speaking of Peyton, if that idiot doesn't at least reach the SB this year, then he's the biggest choker ever!!!

The stars are aligning for that *******.

Irsay is right. This isn't a good look:

Personally, I loved that look. I hope to see more of it in the coming seasons.

Just to add some notes:

Tom Brady has had only had 2 one-and-dones in 10 playoff seasons

Peyton Manning has had 8 one-and-dones in 12 playoff seasons

Tom Brady has thrown more INTs than TDs in only 1 playoff season, and that was a one-and-done.

Peyton has thrown more INTs than TDs in 2 playoff seasons, one that was a one-and-done and one that was his SB winning year.

Tom Brady's TD:INT ratio in the playoffs is 42:22
Peyton Manning's TD:INT ratio in the playoffs is 32:21

Tom Brady has the most postseason wins of any quarterback in NFL history.
Peyton Manning is sub .500 in the playoffs.

Brady's playoff opponents (.714) have had a higher winning regular season winning percentage than have Manning's playoff opponents (.699).

Manning's lost a playoff game to an 8-8 team (2008 SD)

It's easy to see why Irsay would be willing to move on from Manning in favor of a talent like Luck.

I haven't read through the entire thread and I'd assume that someone has brought it up by now, but these facts make Irsay's comments about Tom Brady "never having consistent numbers, and yet he has three of these (rings)," even stranger.

What the hell is wrong with this guy? Who could honestly view Brady's career as not being "consistent?" He's the prime example of a QB who has proven himself to be a very productive and consistent winner. In all actuality, many of Brady's stats are much better than Manning's.

It's times like these I wish I had a twitter account, just so I could question Irsay for his ridiculous thinking. I'd love to hear his wet brained theory and explanation.

I get where Irsay was going, and I agree with his general notion. If not for bad officiating and a sick/injured defense that collapsed in the second half (2006), Manning would still be this generation's Dan Marino. Irsay just stated it badly. He's not the brightest bulb on the tree even in his sober times, and I wouldn't be surprised if he'd already been in his cups before he made that post.

Yes, if we're talking about Irsay's general point then I fully agree with you. I'm all for the rebuilding and cost saving move that was made, although they seemed to do some out of the ordinary things with the "Suck for Luck" campaign that I wouldn't expect from every team. That said, it worked out just fine for them in the long run, so kudos to them, I suppose.

It was the part about the Tom Brady comments that seemed completely out of whack and unnecessary to me, not to mention quite untrue. Had he left him out of the equation, then his point would have made much more sense to me. The examples of Eli Manning etc, were much more appropriate.

I'm not a huge fan of Peyton, but Irsay is a frickin' idiot! Although I don't want the Broncos to go undefeated, I'll be rooting for them to crush the Colts this Sunday.

You're having a pregame celebration for Peyton and the week before playing him this is what you say? lmao, what a f@#$ing crackhead, I only have one question, how many grams?

Looks like someone was up late partying:

Jim Irsay ?@JimIrsay 5h
4 old time sake,a few Peyton completions to old teammates..only this time defensive old teammates like #41 Let's bring good energy!

You must just have a negative agenda for posting this Uncle.. Here's the other brilliant prose this idiot buffoon tweeted last night:

account?@JimIrsay

Those expressing negatIvity about the concept of building well rounded teams around great QBs 2 achieve Championships have negative agendas

Apparently the concept was beyond Irsay's grasp all those years he had Manning.

Re: Irsay is an idiot(Incase anyone wasn't convinced)

he can blame polian and the conservative dungy for this as well.

Exactly correct.

That's who any "dig" is aimed at.

Besides, after that guy endured the 2011 season and the current direction of his team.......he's only stating the obvious.

If Polian was Manning's puppet.....then the dig is earned. Without that old model, does anyone think Manning would ever be "Peyton"?

He may be drunk, but I agree with Irsay.

We all know he is right, that is not the point. Why say it publically? What is the point? Like...for what?

I don't get it.

I assume he is trying to gain the agreement and acceptable of the public to justify his move....why though?

It was an open and shut case, esp. now that hindsight is 20-20, Luck is going to be a great QB...he is well on his way. He is coming up in the draft, you take him. It's not rocket science.

But the whole public thing Irsay did I don't get. Was he trying to belittle Manning, embarrass him.

Dumb.

Irsay wants to be Mark Cuban so bad only he is not as Likeable and noting intelligent ever comes out of he's mouth

We’ve changed our model a little bit, because we wanted more than one of these,” Irsay said, referring to his Super Bowl XLI ring. “[Tom] Brady never had consistent numbers, but he has three of these. Pittsburgh had two, the Giants had two, Baltimore had two and we had one. That leaves you frustrated.

“You make the playoffs 11 times, and you’re out in the first round seven out of 11 times. You love to have the Star Wars numbers from Peyton and Marvin [Harrison] and Reggie [Wayne]. Mostly, you love this.”

And again, Irsay pointed to the ring.

End Quote

Thanks for posting the entire comment.

I guess some have tried to argue that it's not a swipe at Peyton, but I really can't see it as anything else.

Irsay compares his former QB to Tom Brady and his rings and piles on by mentioning three other teams with two. I guess you might be able to stretch it and argue that he's criticizing himself and his strategy as much as he's saying that he'd rather have the bling than the accomplishments of "Peyton/Marvin/Reggie." But the bottom line is that he's saying that he prefers what Brady and Big Ben and Eli and two Baltimore QB's accomplished for their teams.

As a fan, I find it disappointing that he would say something like that. Peyton put Irsay's modern "Colts" on the NFL map, helped him make the case to get the public funding to build his new stadium and, by the way, made him a rich(er) man. Not a lot of class to do that, IMHO.

As a Colts' fan, I'd be ticked because you really don't want to give Peyton Manning any more motivation than he already has to beat your team in what will be its biggest regular season game in years.

Just another reminder of how fortunate we are that Bob Kraft bought the Pats!

Is it just me or is Jim Irsay high as a kite (again) on ESPN this morning?

Lousy things to say but mostly true besides the Brady inconsistent numbers. I do have a problem with him backpedaling though. Own it Irsay.

Premise: Peyton Manning just never had the defense to support him like Tom Brady did.

You just need to put the scores in the playoff games they lost. Their Defense never got blown out except maybe once 41-0.

After hearing to all the talk over the last 2 days one thing no one seems to be pointing out is that irsay is basically taking a shot at brady and his stats . Its all about manning . And I heard the usual, if manning and brady swap teams, manning wouldve had more rings.
