Irsay takes a bit of a shot a Manning.....

The reading comprehension going on in this thread is disappointing. What Irsay meant and later clarified, was that the Colts were top-heavy, incomplete teams that relied too much on Peyton. Basically confirming what everyone has always said. He's not saying that a lack of rings is Peyton's fault at all, but rather the structure of the team (crap corners, special teams, and rbs). The team needed revamped badly, and Peyton's best chance at another SB was to move on

This game pulls me in so many directions.

Denver is undefeated and ahead of us in the overall standings/seedings, making me want them to lose.

Irsay is a POS tanking drunken turd who was born sucking on a silver spoon, making me want the Colts to lose.

Polian is a whiny know-it-all holier-than-thou egomaniac, cheering for the Broncos, making me want them to lose.

The Colts are an embarrassment to the game, tanking a season, quitting in other seasons when their games affected the playoffs, changing rules emphasis at every occasion, insisting they were wronged, making me want them to lose every game for eternity unless they are playing the Jets.

Yet I want more vintage MANNING FACES.

I don’t know if I can watch.

Which stinks less, turd A or turd B?

I will take a manning face classic loss. And then the media squirming because Peyton isn't the goat. It would be epic trying to hear the media's and Peyton's excuses.

I think that was more of a shot at Polian, but he was def going after Peyton with those comments also. Case in point, he didn't mention the Patriots had 3 of these (SB rings), but he mentioned Brady.

His point was 100% right on - the high powered offenses traditionally don't win championships. It was a clear criticism of what Bill Polian spent a career believing in. In doing so he certainly touched on the the things that Peyton Manning, his camp, and his media base who have spent 2 decades developing the narrative of "the greatest QB ever" are insecure about - Tom Brady winning more and the embarrassing payoff record of 1 and dones.

Irsay's main mistake is that in over a decade he didn't pay attention to how the NFL media reacts to anything that is even possibly criticism of Peyton. It is comical to watch them react.

Mort as the official PR man of Archie Manning was so angry his head was spinning. Peter King was ready to join a lynch mob and has now declared based "Peyton's revenge" over these comments that there is only 1 game in the NFL this week and that it is the biggest regular season game he can remember. Adam Schefter actually said in an interview he was outraged by Irsay's comments and when asked which part outraged him the most said he wasn't sure because he hadn't read them.

One ESPN clown (it is hard to keep them straight) said Irsay seems to be forgetting Peyton played spectacular in the majority of the playoff losses and single handedly carried them to that 1 Super Bowl ring - totally false statements both but said often enough that most casual fans believe it to be facts.

I don't know whether Archie serves the best BBQ ever at the Manning Passing Camp free media buffet or what but it is amazing how they circle the wagons and start screaming about something that was so minor and clearly directed at Polian.

Didn't the Colts spend 60% of their cap on offense? If so, Peyton had to carry the team because they only had so much on defense (and they did a reasonably good job of getting defensive talent via draft).

The Patriots by this measure were closer to 50-50.

I took it as a shot at both of them, personally.

Brady's defenses performing better then Peytons in the playoffs are a myth. They have been very close

A generally accepted myth - that they lost a string of 38-35 games.

16, 17, 0, 14, 3, 18, 24, 17, 17, 16, and 35.

Those are the points produced in Manning's postseason losses. And the 35 was a 6 quarter game where 14 came off kick returns.

Not the type of numbers that you would expect to win a lot of games.

Its very simple actually. If you want to give Manning credit for carrying the team then you have to give him blame for failing to carry them far enough.
If the argument is whether Manning was more responsible for their regular season success than most QBs are, that is correct. But you have to add to that argument that he has failed to do so in the playoffs.
The only SB they won was because of great defense and mediocre QBing.

And the 35 was in Denver.
As a Colt Peyton Manning averaged 14.2 ppg in playoff losses.
That says it all.

Dude is overrated. What are the numbers for defensive PPG in his losses?

its funny to watch the media jump all over this as if what he stated wasnt true...he's just stating facts.

playoff manning is not the same as regular season manning....even in his first season with denver, what did he do? go one and out and throw an interception in OT which blew the game. peyton and cold weather dont mix.

he has a below 50% win percentage in the playoffs

Proving my point precisely. He said Brady didn't have as consistent numbers as Peyton, but more rings. Why? Because it's not all about the QB, you need a complete team. If anything that's a knock on Brady
