Interesting Scenario for Week 17: Would BB do it?

I'm all for it. That would be the most epic way to screw the Jets.

BB would never just "throw" a game. However, he might want to take a look at how Edelman does as the team's quarterback that week, just in case.

No he wouldn't do it. The most important thing for the Patriots is to keep winning. Being winners is hugely important and bringing any negativity like that into the equation is a bad way to go.

When has BB ever conceded anything?

If you get more satisfaction watching the Jets get screwed than the Pats winning, you should seriously question your own fanhood.

Why would he let TB's Home Win streak fall by the wayside? Also, resting starters when you have a bye was a recipe for disaster for years with the Colts. I just do not see it happening. Beating the Jets in the Playoffs would be GREAT satisfaction for him. He is on a SB mission. Woe to the teams that get in the way!

No, BB won't lose on purpose but he might let Dante coach against the Dolphins and go stand on the sidelines with Bills coaching staff and offer some neighborly advice.

Way too many ifs and buts.. BB will not lose momentum, for payback.

Would welcome Sanchize in Foxboro in January...

Consider the following scenrio: Pats win next two games; clinch home field advantage over Pittsburgh and anyone else throughout playoffs. Jets lose to Steelers and Bear. Miami wins next two. Entering Week 17, Miami and Jets rae tied for 9-6. Jets play Buffalo. NE plays Miami. If Miami wins, they are the last wild card team over the Jets. Should BB rest Brady and a few starters and "let" Miami win? That will mean the Jets miss the playoffs completely.

I know there are lots of "Ifs" here. It would be a delicious irony on many counts. What do you think?

I can't believe this guy is given air time with a byline at one of the most prestigious papers in the country. The idea that Belichick would waste any energy on the Jets feud when his focus is on getting to the Super Bowl is nonsense.

Playing at home, I think we would still win - even with Hoyer.

The Fins lose tiebreakers to just about everyone. In addition to the Jets pooping the bed and the Fins winning out, they would need an almost impossible combination of the Jags, Chiefs, Bolts and Colts losing winnable games. For week 17, I expect the Fins to have their bodies in Foxboro but their minds on South Beach.

What would be of value is if Hoyer could generate off season trade interest if he had a good game Week 17. Look at what Seattle paid for Whitehurst.

I believe Sunday in San Diego showed that past Patriots backup QB's can be valuable to teams.

INJURIES COULD HAPPEN IN PRACTICE BROSEPH!

Is that what this thread is all about?

Except for the year when they won the superbowl. And by "disaster" you mean several years where they lost in the AFC championships to the team that won the superbowl.

I don't see them doing anything to help or hurt anyone else. How many times have we heard "We play who is on the schedule", "We try to win the game", "We are just getting ready for this week's game" "We can't control what the other team's do". Idon't see BB trying to line up seeds or anything else by throwing a game.

I do see him allowing an historic event to take place in a game, should the opportunity arise. Remember Flutie's drop kick conversion? The outcome of that game was irrelevant, so BB let him try it.

Re: Would BB take a dive?

Doesn't have to, the AOGs will back all the out on their own. They will lose to Pittsburgh and probably lose to the Bears the week after. And I think Buffalo can step up and beat them the last week of the season. They lost to a mediocre Miami at home. I think that San Diego and Kansas City as well as Jacksonville and Indianapolis will pass the AOGs in the AFC standings.

Question? Playoffs....

I keep hearing people say that if we "let" the phins win, the Jets are pretty much done? Is this true?

Explain and elaborate please!

That game is still 2 weeks away so there is no way to predict for certain what the status of us, the Phins or the Jets will be at that time. As things stand right now, the Jets are positioned such that they still have the inside track to the Wild Card, no matter what happens with NE-Miami on January 2. With 3 games to play, they are tied for the #5 seed have a 2 game lead over all other Wild Card challengers.

All they need to do is take care of their own business and it won't matter what Miami, Indy/Jax, KC/SD or Oakland do. Yes, if the Jets lose 2 of the next 3 games, it opens the door to those other team potentially catching up to them including potentially the Dolphins.
