INJURY UPDATE: Blount is done for the year. Will go to IR

If Ray Rice wasn't a woman-beater I would take him in heartbeat. He had a poor season in 2013 but I'm pretty sure he was hurt. He's a pro bowler and was over 1000 yards in the four years prior. But I digress, the $h!t storm would be epic.

They should already have booked flights for

Steven Jackson
Ray Rice
Knowshon Moreno

Instead, they'll probably just heap even more **** on Brady's shoulders.

i think any of those three may turn to dust the second they set foot on a field, maybe not rice but he did average 3.1 YPC in 2013

I would prefer that PITT lose and not be in the playoffs.

We're already looking good for a bye, and hold our own destiny for the #1 seed, so yeah--I fail to see how Pittsburgh winning makes the trip to SF any easier. Without them in the playoffs, the entire AFC field remains mediocre and greatly improves our chances of winning 2 games in route to the SB.

I may be in the minority here, but I don't see this as a huge loss. He hasn't been very good this year.
I know that a lot of people here are rather down on Brandon Bolden, but considering how LG has been playing lately, I don't think the drop-off is all that bad. This might/should also translate to more carries for James White which he frankly deserves.

Still... this season has been a nightmare with the injuries and its beyond ridiculous.

Yes, and Bernard Pierce averaged 2.9 ypc that same season, because the Ravens OL sucked in run blocking that year. The year before (2012), Rice had averaged 4.4 and Pierce had averaged 4.9. Pierce bounced back to 3.9 the following season (2014), but Rice never got a chance to show whether or not he still had the ability to play.

While the loss of Blount is big, I tend to agree that we don't exactly need 100+ yard performances from individual backs to get the job done, so it's possible that you could be correct about the dropoff not being quite as severe.

I think that Bolden can be 75 percent of what Blount was, and that can be "good enough" as long as they remain committed to the rushing attack. I want to see 15-20 carries from Bolden for a couple of games to see how he responds, hopefully after we've already gone up double digits and it's in the 2nd half.

This might should also translate to more carries for James White which he frankly deserves.

I don't know about "deserving" more carries, but we'll need White to step up in some capacity. I assumed that would be via the 3rd down back/receiving role, not really an increase in rushes. Either way, you're right that he's practically guaranteed to see additional carries due to the injury. Let's hope he's up to the challenge.

nothing seems to indicate that that's going to change anytime soon

While I don't think Bolden is as good as Blount, quoting those stats isn't exactly fair to Bolden. He had to run the ball during the part of the game when the Patriots were trying to burn the clock. With that in mind, the Texans were playing against the run.

Bolden had 3 rushes for 13 yards in "clock killing" time. So that gives you 13 carries for 37 yards.. Which is even less than 3 YPC. It was being fair to include those 3 rushes since they raised his YPC above 3.

I doubt Ray rice ever plays again in the NFL...I think there is no team that wants the media heat that comes with it plus I think he has essentially been black balled.

I don't get that Hardy viciously attacked his GF and then paid her to go away. Rice slapped his fiancé and then married her. One is playing like nothing happened, the other is banned for life? I guess it's the power of video.

No. Ray Rice shouldn't have been brought in. Ray Rice is the epitome of scum and is the type of player that would be an insult to Myra Kraft's legacy..
Well, his wife forgave him, so blackballing the dude sort of hurts her, you know?

My problem with him is that it just seemed to me like he was running in cement last time I watched him play. But wouldn't hurt to see where he's at now.

I agree with the essence of what you're saying, but let's not sugarcoat it--Rice did more than slap her.

The video is the problem, plain and simple. As someone in business myself I would never want that as something I have to defend. Granted the pictures surfaced on Hardy and I wouldn't want that either but a video these days is 100x worse. I could just see TMZ rolling that over and over again if someone signs him...zeesh.

Rice didn't slap his wife. He decked her with closed fist and knocked her out cold.

She forgave him and that is between he and her.

Doesn't mean everyone else needs to view him as a great guy now.

I doubt anyone in a position to hire Ray has any concern about her. Just being realistic. She made her choice. Sounds really hateful and I dont mean it that way but it is reality.
