Incognito suspended indefinitely by Dolphins

Everyone loved the Patriots for the first few years, and Manning is forgiven because he's like the Atlanta Braves. He's always in contention, but he doesn't win enough when it matters, so he's not looked at as a threat and problem to overcome.

Very appropriate analogy, Deus. It just cracks me up to think of the SB36 victory over the Rams when Kraft stated "tonight we are all Patriots," and the whole world happily ate it up.

I suppose they were getting sick of the Rams at that point though, so we were the ultimate underdog. I understand the fact that no one wants to see the same competitive team year in and year out, but some of the comments that are made about him actually being "evil" and "hated" etc, are ridiculous.

It's almost like I want to throw out some pics from the Best Buddies event every year, but feel as though I shouldn't even bother wasting my time.

A guy like Incognito has developed quite a reputation for being an ass over the years though, but the main difference is that he's not in the spotlight like Brady is, I suppose.

On a less relevant note, "Richie Incognito" sounds like the name of a villain from a mediocre spy film made in the late 70s.

That's a very astute view of how the hatred of sports dynasties work. It is weird, however, that compared to the Pats, I see very little collective hatred of the Giants or Steelers outside of fans of their respective divisional rivals. But then again, the Giants are a boom or bust team, and Pittsburgh hasn't been quite as consistent as the Pats.

I can assure you that Pittsburgh is hated in much the same manner that the Patriots are hated. It's just at a simmer rather than a constant boil, likely because the Patriots are still viewed as the gold standard.

As for the Giants, they've never really been a dynasty, and their last two SB wins have both been kind of flukey. I just don't think people have really had time to allow the hatreds to ferment.

I could have it all wrong, of course, but that's the impression I get from watching, and playing, sports over the course of my life

...or a very poorly made porno flick.

I somehow imagine the character of "Richie Incognito" to be extremely hairy, although I'm not sure why? Maybe it was just the standard back in the '70's and '80's as far as porno movies are involved? You had to have a lot of body hair and very prominent mustache.

I would have said he would fit in well with the cast of Anchorman.

Between the #bringit tweet and this dude sounds like a classic roid rage case.

I'm thinking that with the Hernandez case still popping up in the news, especially when Pouncey was served a subpoena after the Pats/Fins game, that Miami wants nothing to do with that sort of PR nightmare. If Incognito DID threaten a player, his family, and use ethnic slurs, etc, then he needs to be isolated from the team as quickly as possible.

This whole episode casts a VERY bad light on the failed leadership of the entire organization, from front office down to the team captains. That things got so bad that one of their own players felt the need to clear out for his and his family's safety, then Miami deserves the massive lawsuit that is likely headed their way.

Doubt that's gonna happen in this case, but I get your point.

He's a ******* meathead. This shouldn't surprise anyone.

In one of the great message board investigative jobs, 'TheWalrus' from FinHeaven may have outed fellow poster 'idrd1994' as Incognito's dad.

Apparently idrd1994 made several accusations about Martin that were deleted once the Dolphins suspended Incognito.

OMG some days there is too much beauty in this world I can hardly contain it.

Incognito has always been a punk, no surprise at all...

Great leadership by the once proud Dolphins, they let this stuff happen.

LOL 'Incognito' porn star. Good one. :singing:

The guy is scum just based on all his ON-FIELD antics; without even seeing all this coming out .... and the tweet my gawd anybody ever tell him 'when you find yourself in a deep hole; STOP DIGGING'.

At the beginning of the year; I thought Miami would be #2 in the AFCE;
..... WHO would have thought that the Doofish could OUT-DYSFUNCTION the JESTERS. :D

If I didnt hate the Jesters so much it would be very satisfying. Oh well, there is still time for a jester collapse and internecine finger-pointing media circus. At least they wont be anywhere close to a low draft pick.

Martin's mother is corporate attorney for Toyota & dad is assistant dean of a Cal-State business school. Dolphins may have met their match.

So, Martin's probably not just some weak ungrounded kid, as some suggested early on.

His father was posting about real situations under an assumed name? There's got to be a word for that.

This will be another example of football being forced to catch up to modern workplace standards, and no longer being given a pass on the entitlements of a civil society, such as physical safety and basic protections from bigotry.

How can the NFL have bigotry when 60%+ of the players are African-American? I'm just surprised the players don't police themselves to a higher standard. And for the most part, I believe they do. But I'm very surprised to see that if Incognito is actually guilty, he didn't get his butt kicked by other players.
