I'm definitely convinced the right plan is to move forward with Mac. I agree we haven't seen his full potential yet. I also feel he'll end up being the "good, not great" QB that many people predicted when he was drafted. IMO this means we need to move forward with building a solid team around him, a solid defense so he doesn't have to win games on his own, receivers that can fight for catches, OL that can provide both good run blocking and pass protection. Who knows, maybe he'll develop beyond my expectations, but we have to be prepared for the fact he might not. In the face of this, others may say we're better off moving on, but IMO we're not to that point yet.
I think LJ is a great player, but out offensive scheme is built more around a traditional passer rather than a run-heavy guy, so we would be paying top-dollar for a guy whose talents we couldn't use.
I'd love to see him on a team like ATL who IMO could just plug him in and go for it, but like others here, I feel this is all about the ownership circling their wagons. ATL was all-in on the Watson contest, and IMO they've been talked to. It's hard to believe that AFAIK no team other than BAL has even talked to him. All that talk about QB being the most important position in sports, less than 32 humans can do the job, you gotta go for it when they become available, yada yada. It all disappears when Park Avenue puts out the word that you better not dare to even talk to the guy.
