I move on from Bill if Mayo, his sons and everyone of Bills guys are fired with him.

And we hire a young offensive mind from the Shanahan/McVay tree, i'm not firing Bill and hiring Mayo and keeping all the Bill clones around there's no point in that.

I don't consider having Mayo as head coach as moving on, i view it as hiring a lesser version of Bill.

I move on from Mac Jones first, under no circumstances can you sell me on Mac Jones as the guy in 2024.
I love Jerod. But I’m at this point too.

I’d rather you tear this regime down entirely and start over. New philosophy, new staff, everything.

I don’t think we can rule out that BB’s ridiculous coaching experiment last season destroyed whatever this kid might have had.

The Patriots did follow the “How Bad Teams Ruin Young QBs” playbook to a T. If Mac ends up being a disaster after this, Mac deserves his share of the blame. But Belichick clearly isn’t isn‘t innocent in helping to ruin him.

Yeah. And at that point the finger has to start to point at Kraft

Yeah to me it’s really glaring and obvious that Brady hid a lot of BBs warts and poor drafting/decisions. BB is a very good coach no question….but Brady made him the goat….and now he is reverting back to Cleveland Bill ….and ready to be fired if we are thinking logically

I wanted him gone after SB 52 and literally nothing has changed my feelings on that.

Frankly trading Jimmy G to his freaking friend to put him in a good situation at the expense of maximizing the trade return and then NOT PAYING TOM was a fireable offense right there. Add on Malcolm Butler and 2017 should have been it for Bill.

I have been saying since the spring that any other coach would have been fired for last year and this team needed to show improvement and signs that they were moving towards being a contender again or the Pats have to move on from Belichick. So far, I don’t see it.

Honestly after the **** shows BB has rolled out since Brady left…..He should have been fired years ago…..BB is a very good overall coach….Brady made him a legend….BB stayed too long ….and now everyone knows he’s pretty average
Thank you for just keeping it real.

Belichick's flaws are out in the open, bare for all to see.

And this doesn't mean that he's crap, or that he wasn't important in the early years.

But it should hopefully lay to rest this pervasive narrative That has developed the last 15+ years that Belichick is some wizard that can win with any QB.

No. Belichick is still just a coach, at the end of the day. And combined with his GMing skills, the writing is on the wall. This Pats team isn't going anywhere. I said it week 1. You have a coach who won't cede his GM power, but isn't good enough with it: and even as a head coach, he is liable to make as many questionable decisions as any other.

There's just no point in keeping him unless you seriously strip a lot of power away from him (i.e. reduce him down to just being a defensive coordinator with a HC title.)

If Belichick knew Mac was terrible and he didn’t try to get the best talent available to minimize his terrible play, that is even more damning to Belichick. If you think you have one of the worst QBs in the league, you want to give him a line that allows him to eat a sandwich during the play before he throws the ball and receivers who can’t be covered. You don’t give him a crap o-line and a bunch of slow #2-3 quality receivers. It would only exploit how bad your QB is and lose you games.

You are making a strong argument for Belichick to be fired.

Look at the Dolphins. They know Tua is a limited QB. And they surround him with top talent and a lot of speed to hide his deficiencies.
Isn’t Mac a McDaniels pick? I mean, QB busts define 3/4th of the league at all times, every season.

It’s okay to be stuck with someone for a season. I think firing Belichick leaves us cycling through the regulars while Bill goes to San Diego and creates a Super Bowl team.

I can’t imagine Coaching in 2015 and 2023 are that different. I’m not convinced Coaches “falling off a cliff” is a real thing. It’s not like he has to run a hurdle track to get to the film room. Tom Brady and any other player you could mention aside, what’s the difference between this Bill and the one who had to change the name of his boat every couple of years? General Manager and draft help is probably useful but most every team in the NFL would leap immediately at hiring him the moment it was news.

I mean, he was a **** to Tom and tried trading Gronk to Detroit, so he deserved a little smudge on his resume it could be argued, but I really doubt you’re going to upgrade at the HC position. And I highly suspect you could give him a made roster and watch him get them prepared AF for winning.

4 games in and your whole Corky Gump crusade has gone belly up.

It never was Patricia.

It was always Gumps weak azz arm. He almost threw more INTs today. Greg Olsen commented on Parker being open but Gump could not make the throw.

Your incessant blaming everyone but Gump has backfired. BBs guilty of listening to Saban about Corky. He sucks and the Pat's need to draft a QB with their 1st pick in 2024. Your smoke and mirrors don't work anymore.

You guys acting like Belichick should take a hit because Mac Jones sucks and isn’t developing might be overlooking the fact that Mac Jones just sucks and it’s not real complicated. Andy Reid coached some **** ass games with the Eagles, with rosters much better than this one, and now he’s being put in GOAT conversations.

Belichick is proven. Yes, it was Tom. Yes, it was others. Bill isn’t playing the games. We’re already going into the QB carousel. Why enter the HC one, too.

If the team gets their teeth kicked in again next week I think we’re going to see a lot of changes happen right away and absolutely nothing is off the table.

Yes. 100% yes , and I still consider Bill the greatest coach of all time and the architect of the dynasty we all cherish , love and defend.

It's now going on 5 years where Bill's team construction , philosophy and decisions are directly leading to our sub-par (and sometimes poor) performances.

I've defended him tooth and nail like you wouldn't believe in many circles.

After today however, I'm forced to swallow a hard reality.

We're not good and there's no one coach or player on staff that can change that.

We might need a complete reset and rebuild , which sucks so bad to think about.

I also was in AT and T and took a verbal beat down for 3 hours from hundreds and hundreds of cowboys fans ...so I'm tired , hung over and a bit emotional.

Right now though for the first time... in a LONG LONG time, maybe ever, I'm not on team bill. I can't be.

My opinion is has he lost the locker room ...
I think he has ... most coaches get fired for this ...

But this is a HOF coach ...

Kraft has one of his most difficult professional decisions in his life.
Or perhaps the most difficult decision of his professional life.
You would lose locker room if you are not winning and none has tasted success in post season. Andrews , slater , wise, Bentley and guy are the remaining ones with post season success and leave apart from Bentley none of them are going to be around more than 1 season.

So I am not sure if the younger guns and free agents have the same amount of respect for Bill.

It's been ages since we were decently competitive. this is the 5th season in a row and if we don't make the post season better to make the change.

I would Give him next year, maybe 2025. I don’t think people were prepared for life post dynasty… Its a long road back, History speaks for itself. once your run ends you tend to be mediocre to bad for a while.

70s steelers , took them 15 years to make a serious playoff run after their reign ended. 25 years to find the next qb and win a title.

90s cowboys, 27 years without a conference championship appearance and counting.

80s and 90s 49ers, took them about 15 years as well after their run ended in the late 90s (think 97 was their last nfcc appearance before they faded). Still no title 25 years later.

Weve been average for 4 years. This includes a total tear down in 2020. I know, rule of thumb is 3 years to see the team contending from that point but id rather give bill an extra 2 years to see if he can get this right before moving on. Hes earned it. given the above timeframes an extra 2 years to give the goat one last chance is a small price to pay. To his credit it seems he has the defense, lets see what he can do with the cap space next year to focus on offense.

LOL!!! Thanks for writing this, and the people agreeing with you. Now I know what's behind the lunacy

Blaming Belichick for Mac Jones being terrible is even worse than thinking it was more Belichick than Brady.

One dumb take deserves another.
But I can put the blame on Bill for not addressing an upgrade from Mac at qb or by not improving the offensive talent in general since Brady left town.

on a sidenote where is the postgame thread

The thought process in the meeting rooms were probably the same as everywhere else - make or break year.

Time to move on. Build a defense and an offensive line and look for quarterbacks in the late rounds while Bill Parcelling the team up.

Let him go to the Chargers. I’ll be happy for him just like I was for Brady in Tampa.

it’s not happening here. We can continue to tread water living in the past. But, for goodness sake, it’s long past time to move on from here.

We're you at the tailgate across the street atleast? Was a good time.

Had a blast with some UK fans.
