If we lost to the Bills and kept the Ist pick. Would Jerod still be HC?

How do you sell that to the players, though? "We need you to play poorly so we can draft your replacements?"
As @VJCPatriot noted, they didn't need to. The Pats didn't need to be so aggressive with Milton's roll outs and throwing bombs downfield while the Bills were extremely conservative and just wanted to get the game over with. You don't go 3-13 while losing 6th straight with the #1 draft pick yours for the taking, only to come out and try to win an absolute meaningless game. This goes for the players as well. They already have shown they aren't capable of winning games, so winning a week 18 game isn't going to change their opinion on them. I would've fired Mayo's ass at halftime. That has really put the future of this team in a bad position.
Thunder Kraft hoarded the Pats cap money adding little in FA - Osborne, Hooper and Gibson.
He let Wolfe and Groh handle the 2024 draft netting 1 player so far. The Raiders picked 13th and landed 3 starters - TE, LT, G.

Talk about a pathetic Free Agency and Draft. Stan and Ollie were allowed to keep their jobs and are currently preparing for the 2025 FA and draft. The Pats went into 2024 lacking OL and WR and the exact same applies heading into 2025.

Thunder sent Glaser over to cut NEP cost behind Mayos back.
It was agreed by all that Brisset would be the starter while Maye learned.
After Brisset lost 4 games in succession (1 - 4) it was ok for Maye to come in.
Thunder hired Mayo well aware that he had little coaching experience and then acted surprised when Mayo lost games.

People here wonder why Mayo lost so many games. Its too bad Mayo could not lay all the evidence out how Thunder screwed him and used him.
Kraft spent a lot of money on his own players such as Owenu, Rham, Barmore and Dugger. None of them should've been re-signed or extended. These are the examples of contracts that wreck the market and cause good teams to lose elite players because they will want way more than that.

As I've noted before, I think Kraft assumed Vrabel was safe in Tennessee which is why he panicked and locked up Mayo in 2022. After Vrabel got fired, Kraft was on the hook with a speculated $10M buyout for Mayo. The Pats are one of the top valued NFL franchises in the NFL, so this shouldn't have been a problem to let Mayo out and just get Vrabel. But he's called Bologna Bob for a reason.

With that said, Wolf and Groh have no business still being in the FO while Mayo was the scapegoat. The moves Wolf made were beyond amateur.
Moreover, this has nothing to do with the question I asked: If Mayo had had a healthier roster (e.g., Andrews, Barmore, and Bentley never go on IR), could he have done better enough to keep his job?
No. Andrews isn't going to put the offense over the top.

Bill struggled badly with these current defensive players against competent teams, so what makes you think Mayo would've done better with them?

Mayo was creeping up the backstairs and lobbying for the job, he’s not the innocent babe in the woods he is pretending to be now or people are portraying him as

Mayo also got screwed by Elliot Wolf, it’s also completely correct that both people can suck at their jobs.

Mayo wasn’t a good head coach, Wolf wasn’t a good GM = disaster.
You will always defend Thunder and the deadbeats that Wolfe and Groh drag over to NE.

Thunder went on and on about Mayo and how he was right about Belichick after he won 5 games.

Calling Mayo and Wolf bad hires is not defending Kraft... not even sure how that works.
