Warren, physical freak at tight end will be Mayes security blanket for years
And here we are a quality player no doubt but is he a reach at 4? And certainly it would be a BPA situation as he doesn't address any current needs.

He is a chain mover, tone setter and potential game breaker.
He adds toughness, big plays in the middle of the field and even has ran the ball in short yardage situations,

I’ll take that over s tackle with alligator arms or a underweight non chiseled DT.

I know this is not the scenario, but I think they will make every effort to trade out of #4 if Hunter and Carter are gone.

I personally think Graham or Campbell will still be the pick if this scenario plays out.

I was looking at some top 100 lists from 5 or so sites, and holy ****toli is there a lot of solid edge players that are gonna be available in the mid rounds.

We really need to do what it takes to get Ronnie Stanley. Then focus in on Teven Jenkins at LG and Milton Williams at DT. Ward or Davis at CB to pair with Gonzalez would be nice.

Then I’m doing whatever it takes personally…praying, visiting a witch doctor, giving up hostess donuts, stop drinking miller lite…well I won’t go that far, but I’ll do almost whatever for Barmore to be healthy.

Then I’m trading down and zeroing in on Mykel Williams, James Pearce, Shemar Stewart or Mike Green at Edge.

With our 2nd, I’d see if Emeka Egbuka starts to slip towards the end of round 1 then maybe jump up and take him.

Ok so then you cut Hooper as Henry is Mayes security blanket and this kid brings the potential use of the two tight end packages (albeit not to the same level) that we never fully got to see with Gronk and the guy that shall not be named. Key word is potentially. Does that out weigh picking up an extra draft pick as the middle rounds in this class is deep with talent particularly on the defense and the Pats need help on that side of the ball as well. I dont know the answer but we will see on April 24th.

Do you think Membou is a good enough RT prospect that you'd be OK with Lowe at LT again?

If we can't fill LT in free agency and we go RT in the first we could end up with left to right Lowe, Strange, David Andrews, Onwenwu, and Membou. For this exercise let's assume healthy Strange and Andrews is Membou enough?
LOL
And the day Lowe gets injured, we will have 2024 Part 2.

I'm obviously not advocating for Lowe just trying to gage how big Manx's opinion on Membou was.

fair enough

Isn't Membou more likely to be a top RT?
That's what I thought which is why I asked about Lowe still being LT. Since then I've read some posters suggest he could be considered for a switch to LT.

I think if Carter and Hunter are gone we need to find a dance partner. When there is no obvious choice then we need to stock pile picks.

If there is no obvious choice, then trading back won't provide a stock pile of picks.....everyone knows that the top of this draft is not where you want to be.

One mans trash is another mans treasure. There are plenty of teams that make some head scratching decisions but if no one wants to dance then we will have no choice but to get the most bang for our buck. We are just in a super ugly position at 4, thanks to the Mayo.

Hollin Pierce, Rutgers. Pierce lands out our standouts list just for his size. He measured in at 6-foot-8, 341 pounds with 36-inch arms and an 88 1/4-inch wingspan. In a class that saw most of the tackles measure in smaller than expected, he's a strong outlier. Micheal Orr for 10 years!

Wow large fellow. Just read he was 450 as a walk on. Shedded a hundred to get to playing weight.

The 6″8 OT allowed just 15 sacks in over 3,100 snaps and committed just four penalties, which is seriously impressive with many tackles, even at an elite level, struggling with holding calls. He was a key part of Rutgers’ O-line that finished third in the Big Ten for rushing yards, averaging 175.3 yards on the ground per game.

Worth taking a chance on in the 4th or 5th.

I assume you mean Graham....the question becomes does he lose any of his movement skills with more weight?
He says he played last year at 308- 315.
Another article says he normally plays at 315

Hooper is a FA
But I’m for moving down

This ^ it is no longer an arm length issue. That wingspan is a disaster.
As Matt Chatham said on Xitter:

The thing that doesn’t make much sense to me with teeth-gnashing over whether LSU’s Will Campbell can be a LT in the NFL (or must convert to guard) is he played LT in the SEC as a consensus All-American. Those are pre-NFL body types he faces in every SEC game. The question…asked & answered. I offer no opinion on if &/or when NE should draft him. Just that these measurement things are most relevant—and often prescient—for guys who didn’t get to compete against NFL talent & dimensioned athletes in college. If they did & excelled, what are you even talking about?

Let us presume that there are perhaps 7 players available who are about equal and who might be draft in the top 10.
========
Should we simply take our choice of the bunch, knowing that we could get about the same quality player a few spots later?

In this situation, it seems right to trade down a bit, even if it is for only one additional pick.

To be clear, if we have 3 players equal when draft, why not trade down two spots and add a pick.
=======
Obviously, if we have someone clearly higher than the rest, then we would pick that player.

I'm almost with you although I would personally add Membou who is an outstanding RT. My top 4 would probably be:

1. Will Campbell
2. Armand Membou
3. Tyler Warren
4. Mason Graham

However I am really warming to Barron and Campbell. Daniel Jeremiah has both in his top 12 and PFF have both in their top 10 and if you ignore positional value, they both might be the best prospects of the lot who would become long-term cornerstones of our defense.
Membou's gotten a big uptick after his combine performance, but he's a RT. We need a LT. The positions are not interchangeable. Notwithstanding Campbell's numbers, look at his performance over the past three years against top SEC defenders, the ones who make it in the NFL
