Juju still has a chance... I'm giving him a 45% chance to make the roster. He also signed JJSS and Reiff.

Running the ball, stopping the run is what a team needs to be able to do. Everything feeds off that. We will aid the o line defects by the zone concepts. Agreed here be physical as a team is what you want to see. Even on STsWhat I want to see more than anything is fight. I want the entire team to play the way guys like Steve Smith played his entire career. Like winning that ball on that throw was the only thing that mattered. I want intensity first, then execution, because you can’t win execution battles if you are losing the physical battle. One of the best things about the Van Pelt hire is his dedication to the run game, because that allows the offensive line to take the fight to the defense, instead of taking the hits all day in pass blocking. The same thing goes for the defense, make opponents pay dearly for every yard they get. Be the nastiest defense in the league, the one no team wants to face. I don’t care nearly as much about their record this year as I do their demeanor. The wins can come later, get really nasty first.
Twenty-five percent. And that’s generous.Juju still has a chance... I'm giving him a 45% chance to make the roster.
That's only because he's a veteran and has that advantage over the rookies. That's it.Twenty-five percent. And that’s generous.
Now the pick number matters, where does starter end and backup begin? No. They weren't the 3rd pick in the draft.
You do realize that plenty of great QBs started right away, don't you?
Yes! Loosing does nothing for the players. For example even though we tanked organically last season you could see the dicension with the players, a coaches job is so much harder when a team looses. This is why I've said I'd rather them be counted out, let the media, the rankings all not expect much from them.I have to say, having my team tank intentionally to get a top 5 pick or picks and then having that pick or picks all **** the bed/bust would give me great pleasure. In no instance is my team to try and lose. Surefire way to lose a fan(s). **** that noise….Not saying they would ever do that but would lose this fan if it was found they were tanking.
Pretty sure that Wolf and Mayo are trying to win as many as they can. The OP may have wanted to reword the topic to something like “How many wins would be considered a successful year?”. Or manlybe not.
Like we did. I truly believe San Fran bungled the QB position with Lance. They let Jimmy play with thier emotions by believing he was the guy. Then keeping him on the roster while drafting Lance. Now the pick number matters, where does starter end and backup begin?
Dak Prescott was a 4th round pick and looked good, draft status doesn’t matter once the draft ends.
Some rookies were ready, some weren’t… what you don’t do is simply hand someone a job. Trey Lance was the third overall pick… it’s meaningless.
Polk and Baker are locks to make the roster. How does Schuster have an advantage over them with regard to making the roster? That's only because he's a veteran and has that advantage over the rookies. That's it.
Becuase he's a veteran as I said that's the only advantage he has. Veteran knowledge.Polk and Baker are locks to make the roster. How does Schuster have an advantage over them with regard to making the roster?
Lance was a major project who got overrated and over-drafted, the funniest part and a clear example the draft being a crapshoot was Shanahan wanting Mac originally and having to be talked into Lance.Like we did. Telling him to stay away from the team.
Lance got hurt and just couldn't get any traction as a starter.
Yes, Mac has to be frustrated for a lot of reasons all he needed to do is be marginal his last 2 seasons and some team would pay him Mayfield $$. Lawrence has been that.. so he's riding the wave of the QB market, gino Smith as well. Davis mills was so good he got beat out by a rookie that took his team to the divisional round of the playoffs.Lance was a major project who got overrated and over-drafted, the funniest part and a clear example the draft being a crapshoot was Shanahan wanting Mac originally and having to be talked into Lance.
Both were failures… the entire 2021 draft class was a dud, especially when you consider Trevor Lawrence was supposed to be a “generational talent” and has been merely good. Davis Mills is the second best QB from that class and he was taken in the 3rd round.
Mac was exposed after week 13 as a rookie, the entire NFL had his number.Yes, Mac has to be frustrated for a lot of reasons all he needed to do is be marginal his last 2 seasons and some team would pay him Mayfield $$. Gino Smith was a career backup and after 10 years got 100 plus million. All Mac needs to do these days is be marginal and he too can cash in. If you ask me there isn't as much pressure on QBs these days to be all world. Be marginal. 20 TD, 11 INTS. You will see at minimum 100 million. I'm not apologizing for Mac's play just stating from here on out there's no pressure on him.Mac was exposed after week 13 as a rookie, the entire NFL had his number.
Average arm, poor decision making, inability to detect the blitz, poor attitude, blaming others for his mistakes, poor sportsmanship, and a penchant for throwing ill advised passes and hope that his receivers saved his butt.
Mac stunk… he would have stunk wherever he went, the same way Lance and Fields did.
Now that he’s a backup perhaps he can become a man instead of a petulant child. Maybe he’ll work on his craft and learn the game.Gino Smith was a career backup and after 10 years got 100 plus million. All Mac needs to do these days is be marginal and he too can cash in. I look at history and expect the Pats to have another top 3 pic this year.I understand that many posters would like to see us win 3-5 games and get a top 5 pick. Of course, they would like to see lots of progress on the Offense, the Ol, QB and WR. They want to dump or trade Judon and Godchaux. They want us to look good for 3 1/2 quarters.
How do you think Wolf and Mayo view this issue?
That trajectory was changed in NFL history with CJ stroud. This team has many similarities to Houston last season.I look at history and expect the Pats to have another top 3 pic this year.
If it was meaningless then no team would pick at the top of the draft. They would all trade down for picks for the same reason that several pulls at the slot machine are better than one.Now the pick number matters, where does starter end and backup begin?
