Frankly I don't think Atlanta can beat the pats, if they lose it'll be turnovers, poor red zone play on both sides, big dropped passes....in other words, if they lose we'll be sitting here Monday morning *****ing about Mcdaniels, the lack of pass rush, the non stop zone defense...

They may beat us, who knows. But some of those people are getting nuts. Seattle was #1 this year against the run, the Falcons were #26. And in the NFCCG Football Outsiders preview they said that while Atlanta's pass defense has improved of late, their run defense has gotten worse.

It doesn't seem that long ago we were hearing about the new and improved Steeler defense with all the new, young players inserted since the first Patriot-Steeler game and how much better they were . . .

Right there, Steelers defense was (among) the hottest before the playoffs, loaded with young guys in secondary and athletic LBs. Better middle-of-the-field defense for sure.

The Dan Quinn in Seattle thing cracks me up too.

People do remember that Tom Brady SHREDDED the Legion of Boom, which is 1,000,000x better than this ATL defense.

I'm always a nervous wreck before most games.. and its hard for me to have true confidence in something that I'm not directly involved in or have any sort of influence on the outcome of...

but this is a championship quality team so they can certainly do it... and man o man do I want to see Brady hold up that trophy!

I can understand somebody thinking Atlanta will win; but four people are giving the Patriots only a zero to ten percent chance of winning?

WTF?

WTF?

It's a joke. We have been the best team in the nfl this year. Hopefully we prove it once and for all on sunday.

I find it funny how the manning bros are trying to give matty ryan the pep talk. They
clearly don't want brady to get his hands on number 5.
F both of them. One barely had a winning record in the playoffs and the other needed two improbable plays to eek beat the GOAT. The can both f*ck off.

I'll tell you what has made me the most confident I've been so far in the run up to this game, and that is watching how relaxed BB, Tom, Josh, and MattyP, have seemed in all their interactions with the media this week. Usually all of these guys seem very strained and on edge when they talk to these guys, but in all the clips I've seen so far, they have actually seemed to be enjoying it, especially BB.

It makes me think they they know something that I don't know. On the surface anyone can make a great case that Atlanta should actually be favored. They have the hisotorically great offesne. They have a defense on the rise that shut out the Packers for a half and stopped Rodgers hot streak. They played the tougher schedule both on offense and defense, They are the team with all the speed and skilled players, etc etc.

So I have to ask again. Why are BB and the boys so relaxed? And if they are so relaxed, why shouldn't I be relaxed too.

The most likely outcome is that the Pats will win.

There is a non-zero chance that the Falcons will win.

There is smallish chance of a win that's not a nailbiter, which would be nice (Pats running away with it)

There is a vanishingly small, but still non-zero chance, that the Falcons run away with it.

If the last of these happen the approved procedure is to exit the place of viewing, pour ashes upon your head, and rend your garments. Rhythmic keaning optional.

Order of confidence going into each SB

2007
2011
2016
2003
2004
2014
2001

Conclusion: My confidence doesn't mean ****

Everything on paper says this is a Patriots win and I voted 80%+

We're the more balanced team. We're the more experienced team. We have an elite offense to go head-to-head with their elite offense. We went 14-2, they went 11-5. They are an offensive heavy dome team. Etc. etc.

I am cautiously optimistic that we can win. I say that because our defense has never been this good (knock on wood ) heading into the superbowl.
The defense arguably was better going into 36, 38, 39 and 49.

The combination of BB as the leader, his inner circle creating an innovative game plan over a two week period, preparing the team for situational football, experience in this venue and of course #12 makes me very confident.. not ****y confident, but have ever reason to believe the Pats can win this game.

If I do not believe, why am I such a Pats Fanatic???

All this talk about Atlanta being so fast on defense...is it legit?

Didn't the Colts have a really fast defense too over the years?

I have to admit, I feel a little more confident than I did when we played Seattle, Im hoping that's not a bad thing

Confidence factor of 75%. Pats win easily. The final score might be close but the outcome never in doubt.

Edelman can't have his usual drops. Brady absolutely cannot afford even one turnover. Blount can't be used in long yardage situations ( To avoid negative yardage). If Atlanta wins the toss and marches down the field for a TD, we may have to go for it on any 4th down's the next drive.

Quite honestly I'm not very confident. I just don't think we have the D to hold that offense from scoring a minimum of 35 points.

There is being pessimistic and then there is being insane.
