we won't get to the superbowl without him.
There have been multiple posts on this which offers no news on JE11. There is a wide range of times for return to play from a Jones fracture by NFL WRs and 6-8 weeks is on the low end of the range. In addition, recovery of full use takes even longer. So it is reasonable to expect him back, but bones heal gradually and nobody can predict how his foot will feel (running and, more importantly, planting and cutting) at any particular future time. Bringing in new WRs this week could well be at least partly in recognition of this contingency.
Bedard's correct. This was talked about when the diagnosis was first given. It could be 6-8 weeks, if there are no complications. It could be months if the bone doesn't heal. There's also a range in between.
Nothing to see here.
It is one of those classic carefully worded speculative pieces that have zero value.
He might return, he might not.. we don't know.. but it is not a lock.
Great insight..
My sentiments exactly. I could have told you Edelman being back this year is not a lock and I know as much as Bedard. He's just stating the (painfully) obvious (no pun intended).
Exactly. The dude's not IR'd, so the team's hoping to get him back. That's about the end of the conversation for now (and until the playoffs, or maybe possibly week 17).
In all seriousness, no one really knows how fast he will heal with injuries like that. There's a timetable give or take a few weeks on either end so Bedard is pretty much reporting the same **** most everyone else with 1/2 a brain already knows. Nothing new there.
Unless there was a major problem, I don't think there is any more information available to anyone, including Edelman and his surgeon, then there was pre-surgery. It's only been a couple of weeks.
Since neither the Patriots nor JE11 are talking, anything on Edelcritter's recovery is speculation. I do think though the Patriots must be (and will be) prepared to go on without him. The reason he remained on the free agent market as long as he did prior to the 2014 season was a foot injury that was slow to heal. The recovery from this type of injury that includes surgery and pins being inserted is always an iffy proposition at best. Really, really hope he's there but don't think we can count on it.
We seem to be reaching consensus about the fact that the original forecast should be trusted until legitimate new information is found.
the problem with a jones fracture is that there is very little blood flow in that area
Perhaps myface would work?SUGGESTION:
I don't use Twitter or have an account, but if someone is active on Twitter, why not just tweet to Greg Bedard and ask him if he was just making a point based on the original diagnosis or if had an update on Edelman's progress. Would be greatly appreciated!
Bedard said on Squeaky and the Douche that he was told that by a football writer from USA Today. To my knowledge, that individual is the only source who has publicly reported that Edelman's healing progress has been slower than originally expected.SUGGESTION:

No boot nor cast. I saw him walk out without a limp. Only picture I could find was on Edelman's Instagram page:

He knows nothing.
That's not a Edelman. It's an imposter. This suggests that he is seemingly doing OK. Since it doesn't fit the latest, popular narrative you must remove it immediately.
