    Lets play the game.

When Brady threw a ball right into Von Millers hands around our own redzone it put undue pressure on the defense, ST and the offense.

Those 7 points he threw away were mathematically a bigger issue to overcome than one missing XP.

Whats more likely to occur in 2015? Missed xp or an int vs a pretty good defense?

At the end it came down to 2 points to tie the game. What has a better conversion rate? Xp or 2 pt conversion?

Using your logic -- because we are apparently in a parallel realm where nothing else about the rest of a game changes even if you change the score at halftime -- if Brady had not thrown that INT it would have been a 5 point lead.

Also Bradys 2015 regular season INT rate is around 1.1% (career 1.9%). Which is on the same magnitude as the career XP miss rate of Ghost (642 out of 649 or 1%). So both were pretty much as likely and both happened.

One cost us 1 point the other 7 points. And, yet, here we are somehow claiming the kicker is the reason we didnt get to the SB.

So because it's more common, an INT is ok, but anything less than 100% accuracy on FGs and XPs is failure, even though there hasn't been nor will there ever be a kicker that can accomplish that?

It means he missed a kick that he should have made. That miss hurt the Patriots in that particular game.

We are saying it was one of the reasons. It certainly didnt help, did it? Something people seem to want to ignore.

As i said, i didnt care if they reupped him or let him walk.

Here is the exact quote I responded to before you joined into the conversation:

So, no you were making a point for the morons that blame him over the rest of the failures that happened in each of those games. For those people he is the scapegoat.

Seems like BB disagreed with your point of view.

Schefter said 2 years, 8.5 million. I’m sure Miguel will get the full details soon.

    1. No reason to drop insults.
    2. Yeah, his missed xp hurt the team. There is nothing you can say to change that.
    3. That the pats resigned him is irrelevant.

People that say Ghost lost the game are MORONS and should not be allowed to post in serious football threads until they show an understanding for the game they are watching that goes beyond fantasy level.

Nobody is arguing that missing a XP is worse the making it. But he didnt hurt the team any worse than any other player on the field that day including Brady. And that is the entire point of this arduous exchange here.

The Pats resigning him is not irrelevant but shows that they are absolutely happy with him.

Every XP that has ever been attempted in history should have been made. Now name the kicker that never missed one.

Just in case people are curious like me, the record for most extra points without ever missing one belongs to Paul Edinger, who went 164/164 on PATs but only 135/180 (75%) on field goals from 2000 to 2005.

Isnt it gowstkowski? I thought that miss in 2015 afccg was his first missed xp after he missed one his rookie year.

As I said, there is no need to insult anyone unless they are jets fans. Then its ok. Pretty sure that's in the coc.

The point that people are making is that those missed kicks did hurt the Patriots chances. That does not mitigate any other mistakes that were made in any particular game, but at the same time, the effect of what did transpire in the kicking game needs to be considered, and accounted for. That is something that pro-gostkowski fans don't want to consider, let alone admit. (personally i would characterize myself as ambivalent towards gostkowski).

As kickers have gotten better, each miss is now magnified. And when it happens in the playoffs, its even worse.

And yes, it is 100% irrelevant that they resigned him, at least for me. I was fine with the decision. I would have been equally ok if they let him walk. So really, irrelevant, to me at any rate. All i do know is it bugs the crap out of me when he misses. Much more so than any other kicker the Pats have had (minus Scott Sisson).

You want to pound your chest because he's back? cool. Go play tarzan all you want. You want to wring your hands, waiting to cringe when he misses his next big kick? fine be me.

I'm not willing to die on a hill defending or disparaging stephen gostkowski.
