People that say Ghost lost the game are MORONS and should not be allowed to post in serious football threads until they show an understanding for the game they are watching that goes beyond fantasy level.
Nobody is arguing that missing a XP is worse the making it. But he didnt hurt the team any worse than any other player on the field that day including Brady.
The Pats resigning him is not irrelevant but shows that they are absolutely happy with him.
As I said, there is no need to insult anyone unless they are jets fans. Then its ok. Pretty sure that's in the coc.
The point that people are making is that those missed kicks did hurt the Patriots chances. That does not mitigate any other mistakes that were made in any particular game, but at the same time, the effect of what did transpire in the kicking game needs to be considered, and accounted for. That is something that pro-gostkowski fans don't want to consider, let alone admit. (personally i would characterize myself as ambivalent towards gostkowski).
As kickers have gotten better, each miss is now magnified. And when it happens in the playoffs, its even worse.
And yes, it is 100% irrelevant that they resigned him, at least for me. I was fine with the decision. I would have been equally ok if they let him walk. So really, irrelevant, to me at any rate. All i do know is it bugs the crap out of me when he misses. Much more so than any other kicker the Pats have had (minus Scott Sisson).
You want to pound your chest because he's back? cool. Go play tarzan all you want. You want to wring your hands, waiting to cringe when he misses his next big kick? fine be me.
I'm not willing to die on a hill defending or disparaging stephen gostkowski.
