No public figure should hide from the public. Man up and deal with it, Goodell. I'd include owners. If for instance, if Jed York is afraid to mingle with the fans, that should be a lit fire for him to fix the 49ers or sell them to someone who can.

I agree with you that Goodell sitting in the box will go over much better with owners/average fans versus choosing to pout, make up excuses and hide. It's not a good look for his narrative of "moving on," etc. It will be interesting to see what happens.

As far as the owners go, I can't really agree with you there. The DeBartolo's own the team, whether it's still Eddie Jr behind the scenes more than anyone will admit, or his sister Denise (Jed's mom). Either way, they own a professional sports team in the NFL. They could choose to live in an underground bunker and never see the light of day, if they wanted to. That's the privilege of having an asset worth billions of dollars. As much as I personally dislike Jed York and feel as though he's a major douche, the reality is that they don't "owe" anyone anything, and there are certainly plenty of other examples of owners operating in similar fashion across the 4 major sports.

Goodell is coming to the game just to go walking around the field in a referee uniform making outlandish calls against the Patriots, giving them crazy made-up penalties, knowing that will be just about the only way he'll be able to prevent the team from going to the Superbowl.
