Going to Pittsburgh Game - How to Sit with Pats Not Steelers Fans

You gotta let the team know youre out there.

****ing 2017 era men...worried about the clothes they wear upsetting some other dudes. Incredible. Wear whatever the **** you want and don't take **** from anyone (physically). Good banter back and forth is always expected, as is trash talk. No big deal. Mind boggling that people are scared to wear Pats stuff at a Steelers game like you're bloods and crips.

Likely not going to see many Patriots fans in Pittsburgh. Furthermore, Pittsburgh is one of the rare stadiums that you barely see opposing fans.

I'd recommend not going. Chances are you'll get confronted.

Yeah because who the f*ck wants to go to Pittsburgh?

I’m not sure what the point of going to a game is if you’re not going to wear Pats gear. I mean even if you are wearing ordinary clothes, people are going to know you’re a pats fan once you start cheering. Either way you’re outed. You may as well go all out on pats clothing.

I went to the 4th and 2 game in Indy. I talked MAD **** all day. Dudes threw popcorn into my hoodie. I'd pull it out and eat it while maintaining eye contact. IDGAF. They laughed, then they stopped. They got the last laugh when we gave up that 17 point fourth quarter lead. No big deal. Some drunk guy shoved me on the way out. I shoved him over his chair. That was the end of that and everyone separated us. NBD. Life goes on. Wear your jersey. Desecrate their towel. ESTABLISH DOMINANCE.

one thing i would NOT do is stomp on one of their terrible towels. you’ll need a body bag (or the stadium medical personnel will).

My girlfriend is a Steelers fan (I know, I know...) and while I haven't been to a Steelers game, I've had plenty of opportunity to see how Steeler fans treat Pats fans, going up to Pittsburgh and such. I don't see the big deal. I get a couple sideways comments and what not, but we've had the last laugh throughout the course of the 21st century, so they can talk...and I'll walk...into the store and buy Super Bowl apparel...and watch America's Game, and one day, Do Your Job Part XI.

Pittsburgh is a nice city, I don't find their fans aggressive. They know football, love football it's a good place to go as an opposing fan (unless you're a Raven fan)

Last Pats road game I went to a Pats fan was shot in the stadium after the game.

Good banter!

Yes. You have a good memory.

Where did the Pats fans get hit? How long was his recovery? Did the assailant get charged? If so, what was the penalty?

He was sentenced to being a Jets fan for life.

No but seriously:
Man shot outside Cowboys stadium after game dies

He was charged with murder. Have to think he got convicted of it, pretty clear case there.

ETA: Sentenced to 20 years in prison Man gets 20 years in prison for killing man outside AT&T Stadium after Dallas Cowboys game | Courts | Dallas News

So the case is still on going 2 years later!??!?

‘He didn’t want to kill that man’ at AT&T Stadium lot, attorney says as trial begins

Thanks for the tips. Recommendations needed for:

1. Hotel near/convenient to stadium;
2. Getting from Pitt airport to hotel (rail, Uber, etc?)
3. Pittsburgh Pats fans party Saturday night?

Thanks again

I don't know if they still do this, but I liked parking at Union Station across the river and taking a water taxi over. I didn't have to fight any traffic and could jump through Mt Washington in the Wabash Tunnel heading home (lived in Bethel Park). If you're staying "dahntahn" anyway probably a moot point.

Oh and Primanti Bros...kinda sucks. The bread falls apart and the fries are tasteless as part of the sandwich. Sure, have it just to say you did, but don't go more than once. Concur on the Strip...lots of good street and restaurant food there too - authentic ethnic choices.

Uber is fine from the airport - it's a ways from the city so no trolley/rail service.

Is a hilton doubletree about a mile or 2 away, not the nicest place but will do if your just there for the game, also the unlimited free cookies are nice. There are some hotels in walking distance from the stadium if you want to avoid parking issues.

Outside of Ted Johnson's sister, I was the only Pat s fan I saw at the 2001 AFCCG.

2004 was so cold, it wasn't an issue because most Steelers fan knew what was coming.

September 2005 found more Pats fans ( I shook Willie and Vince's hand) and most Steeler's fans knew what was coming.

With these tickets so expensive on Stubhub, a good Pats fans showing seems more likely with Xmas and some fans not wanting to witness the "inevitable".

RECOMMENDATIONS

On Saturday, go down to The Strip with your Pats gear. If you feel comfortable.....the game should be fine.

At the game, when going to your seats, say "Hello" to the people around.

I would buy a souvenir Terrible Towel and join the opening festivities.

...but don't disrespect the Terrible Towel.

Most Steelers fans are so shellshocked over the past 16 years, celebrating should not be an issue.
So don't take the terrible towel to the restroom stall and then leave the... "evidence" on top of the head.
