Giants accuse the Steelers of deflating footballs

Am I wrong here ( no time to read this thread) but did the NFL prior to the 2015 season say that all balls prior to games would be set to 13 psi and NO LONGER at the 12.5 psi???

Does this not reflect the IGL effects even more?

You are wrong. The 13.5 to 12.5 range is still a rule/recommendation.

The league stooges in the media will be spouting nfl approved talking points today and for the next few days until this "goes away"..."no appetite for an investigation"..."no formal complaint"...

The nfl is a complete ****ing sham, from suspending a guy for 4 games for air doing what air does, to propping up a guy disrespecting our flag and national anthem, to penalizing a guy for making snow angels, to disallowing a tribute to murdered cops in dallas....it is a complete joke...

personally i haven't watched half as much football as I used to - now it's pretty much the patriots and maybe sunday night if it involves an afc contender...

Air pressure and equipment violations makes the sport of football so much more interesting.

The Patriots' average measurement at halftime of the infamous AFCCG was something like 11.10 on one gauge and 11.48 on the other.

So yes, one of the Pittsburgh balls came in *lower* than the Patriots' average measurement on one of the gauges.

But, as others have noted, deflategate was never about actual ball deflation, it was about getting the Patriots.

Krafts SHOULD lodge a formal complaint after seeing the steeler psi numbers and how similar they are to the patriots psi numbers, but i know better.

But Roger is doing a great job!

The above is not entirely correct. Officially, the old rule was that if a ball was low during the pregame check, the refs would add air to bring it to 12.5 (unofficially, we know that they hardly even checked balls before the games beyond a simple quick-feel).

Now, officially, the rule is that if the ball is low during the pregame check, they bring it up to 13.0.

Bob Kraft needs to go APESH!T and demand an investigation. I'm sure Mara and Rooney had some back and forth on their cellphones so those need to be subpoenaed.
CALLING ALL HACKERS! MAKE IT HAPPEN!

Can Bob Kraft file an official complaint based on McAdoo's comments, especially since NFL refused to release any data they compiled last year? This shouldn't be going away so easily since what happened 2 years ago and how badly the Pats were penalized for the same thing.

"I would love to see the Patriots pick off a Flacco pass tonight and then file a "formal complaint" that the Ravens are playing with footballs under 12.5 psi."

I wouldn't. It's against the rules to stick a needle in a ball and test it on the sidelines. Sure, the NFL didn't care when the Colt and Giants did it but if they caught wind of the Pats doing it it's going to be another 1st rounder gone.

From yesterday's NFL statement:
"The officiating game ball procedures were followed and there were no chain of command issues,

They are caught in their own lie.

.

Well, no. There wasn't a problem with the chain of custody of the balls from the ref's locker room to the field and back again.

The two balls the Giants (illegally) tested were intercepted and not subject to the chain of custody rules.

That's never happened before...

An alternative would be to hand it to the ref immediately after the interception and say " I believe this ball to be illegal and would like it to be measured immediately". They wouldn't be measuring the ball, there would be no chain of custody issues and absolutely nothing would happen because you know they either wouldn't measure it or leave it in a room for 2 hours to warm up and then measure it when it would be within range.. In the end, it won't matter because it's the Patriots and the league holds them to a different standard than the other teams...

I have a hard to believing that.

So what you are saying is that the Giants could stick a needle on the sideline in a football and then throw it back into the game?

That's a pretty big freaking "chain of command" issue right there.

Who is he giving a thumbs up to? Is he telling the ball boy to go hit the bathroom to deflate the balls?

Evidence is mounting

Think about this NFL logic.
They're saying that the low pressure is not an issue with the Steelers balls because there were no chain of custody issues in this case.

With the Patriots, they're implying (even though this is not what they said before) that the issue was the chain of custody and the pressure could only be that range due to tampering.

So... the balls without the chain of custody issues (Steelers) weren't tampered with even though they were in the same range as the Patriots balls but the Patriots balls were tampered with because of the chain of custody issue even though their measurements were in the same range as the balls that they deemed were not tampered with...

That my friends is some ****ed up logic and logic that the vast majority of fans will ignore.

No. The ref would notice if the Giants tried to put a Steelers ball they intercepted back in the game as all team balls have their logo on them.
