Who to Root For, Week 11 Edition

I often find it easier to decide what team I want to lose, rather than what team I want to win when compiling these lists.

Extra-Early Game
9:30 am ET, Estadio Santiago Bernabéu, Madrid, Spain
Washington vs Miami
Root for Miami to win, so the Dolphins do not have as good of a draft slot.

Early Games

Tampa Bay at Buffalo
Root for Buffalo to lose, for extra beathing room in the division.

Cincinnati at Pittsburgh
Somebody has to win the AFC North; I would prefer it to be a less formidable potential opponent.
I would rather meet the Steelers (1-3 the last three weeks) than the Ravens (3-0 since their bye) in the playoffs.
But the Bengals have not won two in a row since weeks 1 & 2, so do we want them to win here?
I can't root for the Steelers to win, so I'll root for Cincy to lose. Not an easy choice.

LA Chargers at Jacksonville
A win by SD LA inches the closer to the Pats in the AFC standings.
On the other hand that would also make KC's chances of catching the Chargers more remote.
However, a Jacksonville win could also potentially put them a full game ahead of KC for the last playoff spot.
Another difficult choice, though I doubt it will come down to a Pats-Chargers tiebreaker.
Not sure who to root for, but I'm going to lean towards a Jacksonville win based on #7 seed in AFC.

Houston at Tennessee
Battle between Houston and team that jilted Houston.
Root for the Titans to lose, to help insure they get the #1 draft pick, rather then the Jete.

Green Bay at NY Giants
A Packers win helps to demoralize the Giants, an upcoming opponent.
Besides, I can't root for any NY/NJ teams.
Root for the Giants to lose.

Chicago at Minnesota
No rooting interest, other than the two QBs from the 2024 draft playing badly, therfore by contrast making Drake Maye look better.
Rooting for the underdog is always fun, and Maye will be compared to Caleb Williams much more than JJ McCarthy
Root for the Vikings to win/Bears to lose.

Carolina at Atlanta
I got nothing here, other than the Falcons possibly losing enough to get a better draft slot than the Dolphins of Jete.
Root for the Falcons to lose.

Late Games

Kansas City at Denver
The 8-2 Broncos have the potential to claim the #1 seed in the AFC, and playing at Mile High in January is always a challenge.
On the other hand, I'd rather eliminate the possibility of having to play Mahomes and the Chiefs in the playoffs.
I'll leave this one up to the wisdom of the crowd, and wait for the poll results.

Baltimore at Cleveland
First off, I can never root for the Ravens.
Secondly, they are a greater threat than the Steelers.
Thirdly, I do feel bad for Brown fans, and they hate this team with a passion for breaking their hearts and leaving.
Root for the Browns to win/Ravens to lose.

Seattle at LA Rams
Not sure I have a rooting interest in this game, other than maybe making the Rams path to the super bowl more difficult, or minimizing Stafford's case for MVP. If nothing else, another case of rooting for the underdog.
Root for the Rams to lose.

San Francisco at Arizona
Sounds like Mac Jones is returning to the bench, and Brock Purdy returns.
Do you root for Purdy to stumble, so former Patriot Mac Jones looks good?
Do you root for another former Patriot QB, Jacoby Brissett?
More Cardinal losses equals potentially wose draft slots for the Dolphins and Jete.
Root for Arizona to lose.

Night Games

Detroit at Philadelphia
People from Philly are for the most part very miserable people.
If the Patriots can't win it all, it would be nice to see Detroit do so.
Root for the Eagles to lose/Lions to win.

Dallas at Las Vegas
Shocking news, a Cowboys game is not only being broadcast nationwide, it's on in prime time.
I'm so sick of seeing this mediocre team that has not won a championship in thirty years
This is an easy choice, even though a Raiders loss makes the Dolphins and Jete draft slots worse.
Root for the Cowboys to lose.

The JMT ™®© overly simplified Week 11 ranking of NFL games, best to worst.
Ranking consists soley of adding the two teams wins, then subtracting the differntial in those two team's win.

1) 7-2 Seattle at 7-2 LA Rams - 14 (14-0)

2) 6-3 Tampa Bay at 6-3 Buffalo - 12 (12-0)
3) 6-3 Detroit at 7-2 Philadelphia - 12 (13-1)

4) 8-2 Denver at 5-4 Kansas City - 10 (13-3)
5) 7-3 Chargers at 5-4 Jacksonville - 10 (12-2)

6) 6-3 Chicago at 4-5 Minnesota - 8 (10-2)

7) 6-4 San Fancisco at 3-6 Arizona - 6 (9-3)
8) 5-4 Pittsburgh at 3-6 Cincinatti - 6 (8-2)
9) 5-5 Carolina at 3-6 Atlanta - 6 (8-2)
10) 3-7 Washington at 3-7 Miami - 6 (6-0)

11) 4-5 Baltimore at 2-7 Cleveland - 4 (4-2)
12) 5-3-1 Green Bay at 2-8 NY Giants - 4 (7-3)
13) 2-7 NY Jete at 8-2 New England - 4 (10-6)
14) 3-5-1 Dallas at 2-7 Las Vegas - 4 (5-1)

15) 4-5 Houston at 1-8 Tennessee - 2 (5-3)

Root for Miami to lose, so the Dolphins do not have as good of a draft slot.

This one is easy.
Cheer for Denver.
I do not see them as a real threat come playoff time, Nix and that O are not good enough.
Bury the Chiefs while we can, because they will be a problem, a very big problem if they make the playoffs.
That all said, I will stick with my prediction that KC is going to slaughter them, it will be ugly for Denver.

Rooting for KC. Denver and the Colts are our key threat to a bye and how many Super Bowls have we won WITHOUT a bye. I can think of any right off hand Maybe there was one... at best. So, I'm always rooting for the best path to a bye. And if we meet KC, we meet them, BUT it will be at Gillette not at Arrowhead.

Cannot root for Kermit as youngest granddaughter would disown me. Plus it delivers a STFU to Mahomes bois who have been bleating this entire decade that he's better than Brady (PBUH). No playoffs for YOU, KC. Emotion speaking, not logic.

Rooting for Tampah to bring their A game against the self-doubting Williams.

Whenevah I want a good time I watch TFB with the Bucs deliver a classic beat down to KC & their predenduh QB..
Plus Gronk scores as does my man Antonio...Never mind.

Yes I’ll take a “free win” (bye) over hosting anybody as we know anything can happen

With only two teams on a bye there a few announcers we seldom see (Jason Benetti, Brady Quinn; Jamie Erdahl).

Too bad Seahawks-Rams wasn't flexed into Monday night over the Cowboys-Raiders dud.

I will not under any circumstances root for the Chiefs regardless of how much it might, theoretically, help the Patriots. The best thing to help the Pats is for the Chiefs to miss the playoffs entirely.

Agree. Regardless of what people think of the Chefs the prospect of playing them in the playoffs with a weak pass rush is not one I wise to contemplate. The sooner they are out the better.

Raiders have the chance to do a very funny thing. . . .
