I'm pretty sure there's no "the person who threw the ball" eligibility negation. Any passer who is an eligible receiver can legally catch his own legal forward pass, even if no other player touches the ball.

I’m pretty sure there is indeed an NFL rule stating that a player may not catch his own forward pass. I’ll see what I can find tomorrow when I get out the ole rulebook.

When I was a kid, I’d play 1-on-1 football with my friend. When on offense, we would constantly try to lob the ball over the other’s head, scoot around behind them and catch our own forward pass. I believe such a thing would not be legal in the NFL.

Patriots SB victory margins (best recollection):
    3
    3
    4
    4
    6 (OT)
Notice any that were not competitive?

Assuming your post isn't sarcasm then you are conspicuously wrong. Every game from here on is competition including the Titans(who just completed a pretty damn good comeback on a pretty good D). And almost certainly the competition will get more difficult with each game.
If the Patriots (From Brady to the OL to the DL to the secondary) don't show up playing among their best possible football? They are vulnerable to any playoff competition not named the Bills. And from what I've seen the Patriots playing among their best football is by no means guaranteed. Through the last game, the Jets, the Patriots simply were not putting together 4 solid quarters of good execution (recall they pulled out the #1 seed/win against Pitt by a fraction of the skin of their teeth). What Patriots have you been watching that you think there is no real compeition?

The good news is if the Patriots can play among their best on both sides of the ball I like their chances over any team. And even if they don't play among their best they are experienced and savvy enough to still find a way to give themselves a decent chance to win. But every game (Titans, then Jags/Steelers, then Phi/Minn/ATL/??) is likely to be a tooth and nail fight where the Patriots will battle ups and downs but pull out the win (whoa to us if the OL struggles). Yes, I'd expect the Titans game to be sloping downhill earlier 4th quarter while the other two games I'd expect later in the 4th quarter there will be D stops and/or O drives needed to seal the victory or even get the victory.

Yeah, but you didn't consider who was going for 2. Them going for it was like freaking russian roulette! You were really playing with fire. And it almost burned them!

I don’t know if you guys have addressed this issue or not as I haven’t read through the thread, but I believe that he’s eligible as a receiver since he lined up in the shotgun. I could be wrong, but I believe that’s what the ref’s explanation was.

Funny. If I recall Bugs is playing ("bugs center field, bugs shortstop, etc) against the gas house gorillas. And the classic line of (best recollection) that I used myself multiple times when playing original nintendo video games "watch me paste this pathetic palooka with my perfect powerful pachyderm percussion pitch"

I thought the same thing, which is why I found it odd the officials said he was eligible because he was in the shotgun formation

I'm a conservative gambler because I don't gamble, I spend. Sometimes, for completely unrelated reasons, the casino gives me more money. In fact, most of the time cause all I really do is bet on the Pats until late in the season and they've covered so much it's kind of silly.

You cannot self-pass in the NFL.

Heh. I hear you. I try to only make small deposits of 100 dollars at a time so that I either build on that, or it’s simply harder to continue making more deposits in a repetitive manner like a dumbass.

I’ve had some success building little by little, but any withdraws that I take are usually only 300-400 bucks at a time. Small time stuff that can’t really get me ahead/behind too much, either way.

Of course, I’ll run into times where I deposit 100 bucks and it’s gone in two measly 50 dollar bets, but I try not to repeat the same mistake twice within the same month or so. In the case of this season, I lost my initial 100 bucks back in Sept., then didn’t mess with anything until a losing KC wager last night. I still have hope with JAX tomorrow, but if I lose, I’m out until March Madness—or a rejuvenating premise in early April that I’m somehow going to crush baseball.

Haha right, some of you suckers live in puritan states that don't let you go to the book down the street, ATM out some money, win it, and then go spend it at a brothel.

Because you dont underachieve for an entire regular season. This is who your are. If anything todays game was the outlier.

He needs those easy reads that McVay was able to provide with great play design throughout the season to look above average. As soon as things tighten he is not particularly impressive. I have no motivation to rewatch the game but I think the Falcons basically decided not to fall for play action and let the Rams have their runs. Which would kill a lot of McVays passing offense..

It's an upset because DVOA said the Rams were the best team in the NFL (until the last game of the regular season that is when they played backups and were blown out).

Jokes aside, I can see both sides. On the one hand the Rams really had an impressive regular season. Efficient offense with Gurley and good play from Goff, solid defense around Aaron Donald. But on the other hand, they are a young team with a young coach playing the franchise's first playoff game in an eternity. So I'm not terribly surprised that the Falcons went into LA and beat them.

Oh, and back to DVOA, I think Carolina has a decent chance going into New Orleans and beat the Saints (though I'm still taking the Saints). If this happens the top two teams in DVOA would be one-and-done. :D

Am sure Kacsmar is too busy tweeting about how lucky the Patriots are that Kelce got injured to even notice it.
