Cam Newton doesn't know how he contracted COVID-19, details the 'nightmare' situation
The COVID-19 pandemic has hit the New England Patriots harder than any team in the league after six weeks. Starting with Cam Newton's positive test, the Patriots' games have been moved around and numerous other players contracted the virus. Reigning Defensive Player of the…patriotswire.usatoday.com
Not a whole lot here, but there's a couple of names I would rather have next season than our current starter:Who is better that we can get
1. Stidham has shown absolutely nothing to prove he is relevant of discussion much less “the guy”. If he didn’t have a Pats jersey, 90% of this board would be unaware of him.agree Stidham could still be the guy.
We really missed out on Luck.
Watching the Steelers hit the Lottery on Claypool wants me to make that Steelers scout or new gm
Yes we should trade Gilmore for picks or a impact receiver.

Plus there's also the draft...
All of these options prolong the pain by being better than a young player learning the ropes but not enough to succeed in the playoffs. They are all the path to mediocrity.1. Stidham has shown absolutely nothing to prove he is relevant of discussion much less “the guy”. If he didn’t have a Pats jersey, 90% of this board would be unaware of him.
2. We were never within a position to get Luck ever.
3.
Okay
1. Assuming the Cowboys let Dak go, he’s going to ask for a multi year deal that rivals Mahomes numbers and he’s going to want it to end early enough so he can renegotiate. This board is going to scream bloody murder over the 40 million price tag that Dak will want and get somewhere. He’s also not likely to be on the market.
2. Phillip Rivers maybe........ he’s about 8 years older than Cam, has showed signs of decline, is currently on one of his lower paces for yards and TD’s but he has higher efficiency due to low volume. He’s at best a 1 year solution though. He’s going to likely ask for more than 25 million though as this is his prove it year after being let go. He also is known to not like big city markets and it was highly rumored he had issues being in LA. He’s also failed to win a goddamn thing with much more talent than we have
3. Brissett.... I like him but no. He’s not a starter and he’s not better then Newton. You can get him for cheap but he’s going to have more issues than whatever problems you have with Cam. He can barely break 3000 yards, had never had a 90 passer rating and can’t run the way other mobile QB’s can. His mechanics are incredibly slow.
4. Trubisky/Fitzpatrick..... they will be cheap. They also aren’t better than Cam and it would be a laughable waste of time.
5. Flacco is done
6. Winston is an interception machine.
7. Dalton is the only good other interesting one imo and he hasn’t won a single playoff game and showed he is crapping the bed in Dallas
Everyone else on there is a waste of time. So hope Dallas drops Dak and win a bidding war, pay a 39 year old upwards of 30 million million and prey he isn’t done, or the Red Rifle who is stinking up the joint and never won a playoff game. Sorry but unless you guys are willing to break the bank on Dak in a pie and the sky scenario (Dallas isn’t letting him go) it’s either Cam or draft.
Now let’s look at the draft. Unless we completely lose out, we aren’t getting Lawrence or Fields. So really Trey Lance is probably the best bet. Probably need to trade up to get him too. But it’s more possible. Will Bill do that? Doubt it. We’d still probably need to go at best 3-13 to really be in position.
And even so, at that point, pay Cam a couple years while he develops
His numbers through 6 games were better last year. And now that QB is in Tampa with a near 10 point higher passer rating, 4% higher completion percentage, on pace for 600 more yards than last year, on pace to blow past his TD number last year, slinging the ball deep and making it looking easy.
Last year you had people on here calling him washed.
Those people who judged him last year were wrong.
He looked really bad against the Raiders!Cam won't ever be Brady. Nobody we ever watch for this team ever will again. However, we can't forget Cam didn't look bad before this game. He had one day of practice and recently had covid. Let's hope he plays better next week.
Josh Allen is STILL not great...Stidham has a gun arm. Why not test the water with him. Even josh allen was not great in his first year . Need to give time for folks to develop . We have been spoilt by brady. We have to be in for the long haul and be satisfied with playoff appearance. Unless we get super lucky with cam and everyone on offense magically become a super man..
I am not a huge Josh Allen fan but he has been really good this year.Josh Allen is STILL not great...
If that’s true then by that standard Brady was one of if not the worst QB in pro football his last two games with us.He looked really bad against the Raiders!
Did you watch his last two games (shown on national TV)?I am not a huge Josh Allen fan but he has been really good this year.
His last two games both against good teams: 77.6 and 73.4 passer rating.I am not a huge Josh Allen fan but he has been really good this year.
Recheck last two games.I am not a huge Josh Allen fan but he has been really good this year.
Sure but Brady last two games as a patriots have better rating than the last two start by Cam so Cam is worse than the worse QB in pro football by youIf that’s true then by that standard Brady was one of if not the worst QB in pro football his last two games with us.
He probably really was too.
He still had a Qbr of 63.2 and 85.7 in those gamesHis last two games both against good teams: 77.6 and 73.4 passer rating.
No I looked it up - Allen was 77.6 and 73.4.He still had a Qbr of 63.2 and 85.7 in those games
QB rating and QBR are different statsNo I looked it up - Allen was 77.6 and 73.4.
Definitely improved over the last couple of years but still flaws in his game.
Edit: Oh you were talking QBR. Ok. Still flaws in his game though. Very inaccurate on Monday.
My point was it's kinda over the top to say Cam was very bad against the Raiders. He does need to get better in the passing game though, I'll agree with that.Sure but Brady last two games as a patriots have better rating than the last two start by Cam so Cam is worse than the worse QB in pro football by you
