We don't know who is linked to Talib, his agent's haven't leaked anything. It's 100% speculation, the Redskins are only considered a "suitor" because they have the Raheem Morris connection and went after him last year.

It's not speculation....the redskins reached out to him yesterday

The Redskins were among the teams that reached out to Talib on Saturday, reports John Keim of ESPN.com.

"I know if I went to a place like Indianapolis I would be dangerous with a quarterback like Andrew Luck," Nicks said. "I can see myself catching passes from Cam Newton or even Philip Rivers. ... I just want to make it clear that I want a long-term deal and I want to be happy."

All of three of the destinations mentioned by Nicks make sense from a team needs standpoint. The key will be asking price. Nicks was believed to be seeking a deal modeled on Mike Wallace's five-year, $60 million contract last offseason.

Nicks want a long term deal? Goodluck

If he wants 5/60, he's deluded. Not to mention Wallace got vastly overpaid.

Good player yes but he misses at least 3 games a year. 5/30 however...

He wanted Wallace money last year, he knows he's not getting that this year, that's why he's open to a one year deal to prove the last 2 seasons are a fluke.

This guy cares about money, I can almost guarantee that wherever he goes this year will be getting a very good player, AFTER this year, who knows.

So does Talib.

Just saying

Which is why it would be silly to give him the kind of money Shields got, but one of the perennially rubbish teams are likely to do just that.

I find that statement quite reasonable. I agree.

At this point though, we don't really know exactly what the market is--only that the Green Bay Packers may have overpaid a bit to keep their man. For all we know, they had Shields as the #1 option available, especially since he's played in their system, etc.

I think some of these "Talib will definitely get 10m +" statements are a bit premature. Obviously, we'll have a better idea of whether the market is closer to Grimes or Shields once Tuesday comes. I'm guessing it's in the middle myself.

One of those "rubbish" teams that you state may certainly overpay for Talib's services, but that could still equate to a 4/34 deal or something. The bottom line is that I agree with you that it still may be too rich for Belichick's blood.

The Oakland Raiders

This is pretty much why I wouldn't be as opposed to bringing Nicks in on a one year prove it deal as many here are.

The Oakland Raiders

If there's any team in the NFL who could waste over $60m in cap space overpaying players it's the Raiders!

Wouldn't be too shocked to see them make a play at both Talib and Cromartie.

Per league source, Titans will soon begin attempting to trade RB Chris Johnson. Full story coming at PFT.

Not sure if they honestly believe they'll get a whole lot when they basically said they're going to cut him if he doesn't take less money (at least i seem to remember them saying that).

Also:
Ian Rapoport ?@RapSheet 1m
If you thought Everson Griffen #Vikings deal ruled out Jared Allen, you’re right. Agent Ken Harris said Allen & Vikes parted ways last night

I feel like that one was pretty much understood, but its official now. Allen will not play for them next year.

5 years $42 million is ridiculous. I like Griffin but $9M APY is drastically overpaid.

Yeah, it sucks when some of these idiot teams screw the market up. They must really like him for the future. The again, it looks like the deal could easily end up being more of a 2 yr pact.

Now a player like Michael Johnson is going to be looking for $10-$12 million.

I am even more surprised that Green Bay who is not usually an idiot team gave Shield’s $39 million. I would expect that they would be releasing Williams in the upcoming days.

I'm wondering if maybe GB felt that Shields' knowledge and familiarity with their system may have allowed him to jump to the #1 CB available on their board? Even then, I am surprised that they'd have given him a deal like that though.

I am not sure they could be rewarding him for past performances. They have only paid him $3,246,000 for the past four years of service. I believe last season was his first as a full time starter and he had an impressive season – 14 games, 61 tackles, 4 interceptions, 17 pass defends, 72.4 opponents QB rating. They could see something in him; he is still just 26 years old. Honestly, who knows but it was nearly $10M a season is shocking.

Oh how the Steelers D has fallen.

Oh how the Steelers D has fallen.

I have said this recently in the last week or two, but the Steelers have gone from one of the best drafters early last decade to one of the worst drafters in the in the last 5-8 years. You can point out far more misses than hits from them. And the defensive players who were the core of their defense are just getting old and no one to replace them.

Unfortunately, there is going to be a lot of stupid money thrown around in free agency this year. Many GMs can't help themselves. They get $20-30 million in cap space and hear that the cap will go up by $20-30 million over the next two year and they think they can spend like drunken sailors.
