[Edited thread title] Jack Jones arrested for possession of firearms at airport

Well the Jack part of his name is fitting for Jack@ss.

There is no lack of background checks. When you buy a gun from a Licensed dealer, you undergo a background check. Now, some people say that PRIVATE sales should require a background check, but we don't require that for privileges, so why would we required it for a right?

People don't understand that the Bill of Rights is not limitations on the populace. They are limitations on the Government. They are the inalienable rights that we are ALL given that can't be taken away from us.

In 2019, the UK actually had more violent crime than the US. You had 1.8M instances compared to 1.2M for the US. And that is with the UK having only 65M people. In 2022, the US had 2.4M cases, while the UK had only 2.2M cases, but, again, the UK has about 1/5 the population of the US.

Harvard did a study back in 2007 or so which found that it's not the weapon used that is the biggest factor in CRIME. It's actually the Socio/Economic factors.

Would Banning Firearms Reduce Murder and Suicide? A Review of International Evidence

It's tricky comparing violent crime as what defines a violent crime is different in every country. I would questions the 2.2M violent crimes as thats 1/30 in terms of the population in a single year and you just don't hear about incidents that often and i live in South London which whilst better now used to be a bit dodgy.

In terms of intentional homicide, which is possibly less open to interpretation the UK is much lower than the US even taking account for the population difference its 5 times higher according to the the below stats.

Personally i'm happy that we aren't allowed guns in the UK and i would guess everyone here feels the same way as i have never heard a single person say otherwise ever. We just don't feel that we need them to feel safe.

It is perfectly legal to have an unloaded gun in your checked luggage. It is completely stupid to have loaded weapons in your carry on luggage.

Not sure what he was thinking.
Highly agreed has nothing to do with right or left, conservative or liberal.. it's just a foolish thing for anyone no matter who you are to try to bring loaded weapons to an airport anywhere in the United States..

I hope jack gets through this situation however with 10 charges against him.. get likely won't be on the field anytime soon. Just a tough thing I really like jack Jones.

If the Pats determine he can’t stay on the team, I think their best strategy could be to wait this out, see what happens in court and with league discipline, rather than just release him tomorrow. Let it play out, then trade him to a NFC team in a state where guns are glorified- the Cowboys or Bucs or Cards.

He’s a starting level CB, don’t give away that asset for no return.
Agreed, that's why it's likely he'll go on the commissioners list or NFI, as he has pending charges. Once everything is decided upon he'll then face the league suspension. Sadly this likely means we won't be seeing JJ on the field anytime soon.. Unless this is all one big misunderstanding..

Yeah like that disastrous signing of the TE from Arizona who had just had back surgery!
Gronk was drafted & not a FA.
A dozen years ago ?

How did they do with the evaluation of Schuster & Robinson in 2023 ?

Or do you want to talk Hart Lee Dykes?

Looks like your still living in the Patriots Super Bowl era with Tom Brady & Gronk

Well….. sorry but……. this ain’t it !

I’m not American, so I likely share your views on guns.

Having said that, your country has been the most genocidal in human history. In 1755, your country attempted genocide to my people by taking their lands and putting us on boats. Thousands perished.

This BS English speakers often use (that was years ago, move on) is utter crap. We have felt the effects for 250 years and I’m pretty sure the Irish and the Scottish feel the same way. I wonder if Nazi sympathizers would be well received in a few hundred years with the ‘let bygones’……

Guns - IMO - are bad. But so has England for the better part of its history.

Back to the story : I think they should move on from the player. Backlash and bad decision-making will overwhelm his value.
I was just reading up about that and it does sound horrific but i don't see the connection to gun ownership in the US and no gun ownership in the UK and the actions in the past of our government? Regardless there is a huge difference between ambivalence and sympathising. I would be hard pressed to find anyone who sympathises with the atrocity you mention in 1755. Do Americans still feel guilt for the displaced native population? Were there displaced native Canadians? That is never really talked about if so

Not true. You can be standing in line at the ticket counter to include them as part of your checked luggage. Granted, they can not be loaded at the time. But you can have them in the airport.
They can't be loaded and they have to be in a locked, hardsided case. And they have to go in checked baggage.

People get caught carrying firearms on a plane happens all the time. Jack Jones is hardly the only one.

That's out of more than 850 million people traveling by commercial airlines last year. In other words, a percentage so minuscule my calculator had to resort to scientific notation to display it.

Other than being your usual ******* self what is your point? Has Schuster missed a game yet ?

I have had season tickets for 30 years. I want to contribute to a top shelf organization both athletically and ethically.
What I have enjoyed most was two folded. The success of the team and a high morality and team spirit that they dictated on and off the field.
Success and only success seems to suit you fine and that is OK. We all see and want things differently.
I respect your view. But it is not my view
Do you seriously think the patriots have been morally superior?
Their player history is as checkered as any organization.

This doesn’t make any sense. He’s a “thug” and a potential murderer because he had a firearm in an airport unlawfully? There’s not a strong correlation here.
TWO LOADED firearms with extended mags. Why does he even need TWO?

So NFL players who exercise their constitutional rights are now "thugs" and may commit a crime in the future so the best thing is to release him? There is a world of difference between Jones and Hernandez, who hung out with the wrong crowd throughout his life. Hernandez had no friends on the Pats and in fact his teammates were afraid of him. Hernandez hung out with gangs when he left the stadium.
Was he handing out with the right crowd when he robbed a Panda Express?

Yes, but in the UK, you can be arrested for speaking out against the King.. As just happened recently..

I worry about Kraft trying to appease a vocal minority.
I'm not familiar with the gun law in Mass. but it sounds like he's facing some unavoidable jail time (like our old friend Plaxico Burress). If that's the case, Bobby K will have the decision made for him; he's going to get cut.

So the founding fathers were DUMB?

History says otherwise.

Wherever there has been registration, the government eventually came for the guns. In many instances Millions died.

The United States is "DUMB" because it doesn't address the bigger issues. Which are the piss poor mental health care system and the legal system that doesn't actually uphold the laws we have while thinking NEW laws will fix the issues. Many of the "mass shootings" where 3or more are killed would never happen if we actually upheld the laws we have.

66% of ALL gun deaths are suicides. If we did more than just shove anti-psychotics and psychotropics down people's throats, we would eliminate a good portion of them as well as one of the leading factors of Mass Shootings.

When I researched 89 of the Mass Shootings where 5 or more people were killed NOT including the shooter, from 2003-May 2022, this is what I found:
51 of the shooters had a diagnosed mental health issue.
15 of the shooters did not have a diagnosed mental health issue and were not diagnosed with one after the shooting.
21 of the shooters were felt to have a mental health issue by the family or friends but were not diagnosed.
1 case I found to be undetermined.

So of the 88, 60% involved a shooter with Mental Illness. Another 25% were thought to involve mental illness.

Now, one thing to note. There have not been over 200 mass shootings in ANY year. Ever. This is fear mongering by gun grabbers. They have changed the definition of "mass shooting" to include Gang Violence, Hostage situations, and murder suicides.. Something that prior to Sandy Hook, were never counted.
Oh ffs, shut up and put your hackles down.

I'm not anti-gun.
