Edelman back at practice

If we can get a bye and win out and get gronk and edelman back healthy. I think we can beat anyone anywhere in the playoffs

If we get healthy we can beat anyone. Wildcard, bye, or homefield, it doesn't matter.

There's a reason we see the DVRs titled "3 games to glory" every time they win--or even make it to the SB.

That said, they did come somewhat close back in 2006 without the bye.

I'm sure they will get a bye but if they win the Super Bowl going the wildcard route that's another thing to check off the list they haven't don't before. If we are healthy it's going to take a lot to beat us, including any help from the refs.

Agreed.
If we play WC weekend? It is what it is. I still think we are capable of getting to the big shoe even without the bye. However, no one should fool themselves into thinking it doesn't matter. Not getting the bye will certainly lower the odds of getting to and winning the SB.
I've been singing the praises of this team, when at or near full strength, most of this season. I believe if we go into the POs with everyone near healthy, and provided we don't beat ourselves, the SB is ours to lose. I'm definitely one of the more homeristic posters this season. But not getting that bye changes me from homeristic to modestly hopeful.
I'd prefer we win our last 3 so I can remain homeristic

I hear you. I was the exact same way last season, as I felt very confident all fall/winter. I even went as far as making hotel reservations out in Phoenix way back in November, which unfortunately, I ended up selling to another patsfans.com poster due to our dog needing chemo.

This year, I'm a bit lukewarm and reserved. I don't know if it's the injuries, the lack of seeing the team really reach its high yet, the lack of a running game, or all 3---but I'm having some concerns as far as winning 4 straight against top notch opponents.

Get the bye, have 2 weeks to prepare for one home victory and go to the AFCCG, and I think we're looking at a season like '11, '12, or '13. That gives them a decent shot at going to the big game. If they're somehow able to finally reach their potential, show up on the OL, run the ball, execute all assignments properly for several weeks in a row, then I'll allow myself to entertain the possibility of going to, or even winning the SB.

Is it, though? I mean, not to sound too cautious or reserved, but I keep reading posts about "how it's going to take a lot to beat us." We see these every single year, as few can look at the usual 12-4 record and try to actually be objective.

Which team are we speaking of, because that is the most important factor? The lack of a running game really changed this team, and while it's obviously not a deal breaker, I believe they went from clear SB front runner to "just" competitor for the AFC when they lost Deion Lewis and no one else stepped up.

You may feel that it's virtually impossible for a team like Cincy, Pittsburgh, or Denver to beat us, but I think it's a pretty close game with all of those teams now. Hopefully, they'll take the next step with the return of key players and finally build some momentum and stay on the same page. We need to use this next month to get things ramped up to the true potential that this team is capable of reaching.

Lossing Lewis really f.ucked us. The running game has been a shell of itself since he left, not even mentioning the threat he was in the passing game.

I really wish Ridley was still here.

We sure could use him now. No doubt. While it's reasonable to think they can win without running the ball effectively, the ability to rush greatly improves our chances.

It also allows for longer drives, a better TOP, the chance to succeed in bad weather games, the ability to keep Brady protected, and better play calling balance.

Even if we are playing wc weekend, if those two are full strength and the defense is reasonably healthy i have trouble seeing anyone beat us. The team did win 10 in a row before injuries got out of hand and the defense as usual is getting better as the season progresses.

Hope springs eternal..

If james white continues where he started off last week...then its reasonable to think he can at least give us what lewis did in the passing game. Add edelman and gronk and i think we are the #1 team in the afc.

We control our own destiny at this point. Win out and get a bye. I cant see all three teams ending 13-3

This is what matters:

At the same time, there is a wide range of times for NFL WRs with Jones fractures regarding return to practice, return to games, and, separately, return to pre-injury performance, with an increased risk of re-injury the sooner he returns. I know that Edelman's effectiveness relies heavily on quick, sharp cuts.

I've had Jones fractures on both feet...Not surprised to see him walking, but if he can make his usual, freakish lateral cuts by the playoffs, I will be in awe.

This is pretty much irrelevant, regardless of how much we want it to be:
The man is a fckn stud. 200%. Hide your women.

This is about a bone healing so that it can take the pressure exerted on it when he suddenly cuts sideways. How tough he is, or how much he wants it, is nice to think about and appreciate but won't make a difference in his return date. If he gives in to his desire to play, and comes back too early, he could re-break it, and then he's in a world of hurt career-wise.

Julian Edelman - WR - Patriots
Julian Edelman (foot) is practicing again on Wednesday.

Edelman returned to practice last Friday after breaking his foot Week 10. He's going to need a full week of practice before returning to game action, and that could happen this week. According to onlookers, Edelman looked "crisp and quick" and "pretty good" running routes on Wednesday. We'll continue to update Edelman throughout the week and into the weekend.

Thought I read that last week he was moving around "gingerly"...?

Either way, encouraging nonetheless.

Dude is a beast, pure and simple. I still would like to see him held out until Week 17, though. As I mentioned before, Edelman is the type of guy that would rush himself back for the good of his teammates without much regard for his own personal health.
