Jets IMO seemed like they were doing the same thing they did all game. Rush 4 and the line couldn't handle it.

Drake did what he could In limited action. I would have liked to see what he could have done if it was the entire 4th quarter as the game was over for sure by then.

I liked his ability to escape outside. The throw to pop just Gave me vibes on the future with he and pop.

Pape it was a combination of Murphys law. Thursday games are always tough for NFL players. Even tougher for lesser talented teams. I believe Maye day has a bright future once we get a NFL level offensive line to protect him I can envision big things.
the jets were not getting after the qb like they were with slowcoby & co... the intensity had been dialed down a notch at that point... trying to figure out what he could have done is much like pissing into the wind... its futile...

no doubt it was a tough position to be in last night - but we were not prepared. we were not ready to face a team that was dialed in like the jets were last night. Thats on Mayo. The whole coaching staff, really. Learning experience you could say. Wasn't keen on Covingtons comments - "we need players to be ready" - its your job to get them ready DC...

They all need to figure out how to manage those scenarios in the future.

They rushed 4 majority of night and when they rushed 5 forget about it. Nothing changed with drake.. they couldn't protect Jacoby and couldn't protect Drake.

Your right they just dialed back on the blitz.. but we're still getting pressure with 4 so why blitz. Yeah it was a bad day for all coaches, players. It appeared as though the defense was lethargic and tackled like ****. Like I said Murphy law what can happen, will happen. Jets played like the kid who got tired of getting thier lunch money taken from all the years of ass whooping we gave them.

lol, yes they did...

revenge for seeing ghosts, buttfumbles and all the foot jokes welker made among other slights and insults heaped upon them over the last decade of Patriot dominance... lmao

Lmao.. Yes.. that's how I saw it... Jets are good they will probably end up 2nd in the AFCE. However I still this this patriots team has some pride... has some balls, some fight. What they showed the last 2 games is who thier identity is. Last night was just an all around bad game no excusing it. I think we see a closer game when we see them again in a few weeks.

I didn't really see any plays where he was "way off target". The first incompletion was on target but batted down by a DB. Second one, the TE looked like he slipped, third appeared to get tipped at the LOS and he was also being hit as he threw. Last incompletion was a little off target but not significantly, still catchable.
The very first pass was a late throw that was nearly a pick 6. I consider that off-target.

I did not think Rodgers looked good opening weekend. He looked better week 2 but if Thursday night is an indication of how he can move now I think the Jets might top the Bills and win the division.

I just want to watch a competitive Team which we won't be with the very limited Brissett.
You won't be with Maye either. For any benefit his physical talents bring, his inexperience will be just as much of a liability. For all Brissetts shortcomings, he actually did a better job staying upright than Maye did in his short debut.

This year was always about next year. And at this point it's dumb to compromise Maye's health and development just so the fans can feel good for a week or two before getting upset at reality again.

Begging for Maye right now is the same as begging for Zappe last year only worse because you are hoping Maye might turn into the guy in the future

Maye's "debut" demonstrates one thing and one thing only: that the offensive roster is such that the time for his debut has not yet come, and that pretending otherwise is foolish.

Drake came in for mop up duty last night... thought he showed some stuff... but that thought is tempered by the fact the Jets called off the dogs... Yes they rushed 4 or 5 guys, depending on our formations, but they eased up with the game well in hand... so while we saw some good things, we also saw that he still has a lot to learn...

every Drake Maye play from last night...

analysis of Mayes performance

Whats your hot take on his debut...

They relented on the blitzes, BUT they had a lot of guys in the middle of the field defending. Douglas's catch was placed perfectly right in the open spot between 4 DBs.

That pass to Douglas was pretty.

There were things to like and things not to like.

The thing about Maye was never that he was going to come in and look like an All Pro (despite what some people seemed to be saying this past week or so). He just has to come in and keep showing improvement.

Still wanted them to try and score at the end. Why bother having him in there if they just conceded?
It was garbage time. Even if he scored, everyone would have said it didn’t count because the Jets weren’t really trying that hard.

The point was getting him some experience. And that’s what he got. Let him get a real TD when it counts, not some ******** one when it wouldn’t.

If Rodgers had our offensive line he would look bad too. No QB be it Brissett, Drake or Milton will look good with the line. As bad as I want to see Drake play.. Mayo's likely doing to right thing. Just go ahead and let Brissett play. Now if and when Brissett goes down the maye will be called into action.

Having let the Zapster walk, that is where we are. I wish they still had a back-up pther than Maye (Milton isn't really an option.) so that they could decide when tioplay Maye on the merits, rather than having that desison made for them by Brisset's medical status. Oh well.

sure... they didn't want us to score... don't blame them*...

* well i do... but that's just me being irrational... lousy jete bastiches

What plays a big part in that is maye is ready. He steadily improved since he stepped foot in the building. That's why zappe was expendable. Maye currently is the #2 and if he weren't ready the organization would have shelved him and kept Zappe. However we all know the O line is a serious problem that's why he's not starting.

True but I think the Jets would go all out to try and make sure Maye and his team don’t have a silver lining from that game and I would too if I was them.

That’s ok with me. Gives the kid a taste of hopefully a few years down the road Maye has us in an AFC Championship game facing a 2 minute drive down by 4 need a TD to win…

What is the logic there?
Why play Brissett? If you aren’t playing Maye now but will I’d brissett is hurt then you are saying it’s about brissett deserving to play, not about protecting Maye.
If you are protecting Maye why did you out him in to take the beating when the game was out of hand?

Brissett went back to the locker room, didn't he? I think that had something to do with it.
