Last year Brandon Cookie received for 1080 yards without doing too much of a splash. The fact is, for a guy who plays this role of stretching the field, if he stays healthy for 16 games and get some targets it's reasonable to think he will get his 60-80 yards a game. We know the Pats consistently change their game plan according to the opponent and Cookie is a far superior player than Dorsett but I'm just wondering if he can replicate that role at least in a 70% capacity. If so we are fine replacing Cooks, he was never the guy you count on a big 3rd down conversion anyway.

Anyway my bet is under.

Way under.

Under.

He doesn’t need to be that close to 1K to make a major impact on the success of the team though.

Under

More challenging question would have been: over/under 500 yards

I'd still take the under

The Pats need to replace the vertical element of Cooks's game and the toughness and contested short area catch element of Amendola's game (rewatch SB51 if you need examples)

Dorsett does neither. Best case, he's a homeless man's version of 2004 Branch - working intermediate routes and quick hitters on the sideline. He's not tough/strong and lacks the skills to get deep against #1/2 CBs

I was going to consider about 800 a success.

If you said 500 I’d say under.

The real question is Dorsett over/under Patterson.
I see Patterson over 600

I see Patterson over 600

Patterson will be totally useless or break out for a surprisingly big year. I don't see much middle ground with him. If his sloppy fundamentals and concentration issues get him in the dog house, it's easy to see him being a game day inactive or just used on kick returns. Hopefully, McDaniels can find a way to use Patterson's raw tools. Not sure how, given his limited route running. Maybe strictly vertical routes and screens/end arounds
