DL depth - DT Joe Vellano waived, DE Michael Buchanan placed on IR

To accommodate Browner and Tyms, the Pats released one DL and IRed another. Meanwhile, Jones, Easley and pass-rusher Hightower are hurt.

I know the Pats have to skimp at some position group(s) or other. Still, I hope this all works out OK.

Vellano's got practice squad eligibility. did Buchanan have a high ankle sprain, or was he just not looking like he could help?

A little weird to see Buchanan get IRed, although if it was a severe high ankle sprain, that's the kind of injury that can rob a guy of his explosiveness--which is the bulk of Buchanan's game--for the whole season. Bummer.

As far as Vellano getting cut, I feel guilty over how good that makes me feel, since I cringe every time he steps on the field for a meaningful snap.
